SIG P 365 question

SIG P 365 question - 09/23/22 12:40 AM

held one of these today along with the M&P and the hellcat-found the hellcat interesting, the M&P unremarkable, but the sig fit very well in my hands. Was wondering though, there were 2 versions, one with normal night sites, and another version, the P365SAS with FT bullseye and all the anti snag "treatments". Kind of liked it, but there was $100 difference between the two sigs. Is the $100 difference worth all that in real world application? Just wondering really.

I like the idea but it wasn’t for me when I tried one. I get in a situation I may need it I’m probably not going to be using the sights at all anyways. I’d rather not have to learn how to shoot one gun when the others I’ve owned or own all have raised sights that all shoot basically the same.

I would go with regular sights all day

If you’re looking at the sights that hard you’re to late.

Don't get the bullseye dill.

Try to shoot them all before deciding. I much prefer the shield plus in the little guns. Then the 365. And last by a bit the hellcat. I like XD/XDm pistols and thought the hellcat would be my preference, but it was my least favorite. But they are all good guns, so go with what you like, but not the bullseye sights lol

I didn’t like the SAS. I have had a regular 365, a 365X, and a 365XL. I now have two XLs one for me and the wife. I have the Wilson grip module on it as well. My BIL has a hellcat. I shot it before I bought my first 365. I like the 365 better. I never have shot the M&P but it felt cheap and clunky in my hands.

Carried S&W Shield for about five years. Tried to replace it with a Hellcat, but didn’t like it at all. Currently have a 365, which I really like. Standard night sights for me. Purchased the Wilson grip, but am undecided if I will keep it. Installed it and it feels great in the hand, but it does have a very aggressive texture. I think it would peel some hide if carried against skin.

I have the P365, P365XL and the P365SAS.

Thought the SAS was a great idea until I shot it a lot. I never got used to the sights. It sits in the safe now and I carry and shoot the other two.

I carry the SAS version. No issues. You need to train with the firearm you carry. With the SAS you need to make sure you're able to execute "point and shoot"...no sights required.

The p365 is an amazing micro compact.

You'd hate the SAS sights. And the hellcat is a royal pain.

This was 5 rounds at 7 yards.

^ now take those same 5 rounds and distance and fire as fast as you can. Post your result. Create stress and duress because that's what is be like in a gun fight. You won't even use your sights...you're "pointing" center mass (8, 9, 10 ring) and firing to stop the threat.

The threat model is a bit different today. An EDC should be capable of precise hits at 25-30 yards, not just sprayin' and prayin'.

The P365 does that job, but the SAS sights are just terrible. For me, anyway.

You’re mistaken. The threat is close and personal. That why I carry the SAS. I want easy to deploy and non complicated. I practice the point and shoot method frequently. Show us 25-30 yards with your P365. If I need to shoot that far then a different handgun is in order.

Yelp 30 yards with a p365 is well not exactly precision, I’m sure there a few that still holding tight groups but not me. I’d be better off running

Well, burn a couple 1000 more rounds and ditch the SAS sights.

I went to buy a Hellcat. Ended up buying a 365X with the regular night sights instead. I really like the way the 365X carries. Accuracy is adequate. I also have an M&P. For me the M&P is extremely easy to shoot very accurately. Either point and shoot or using the sights. It has been 100% reliable. If like me you have shot 1911’s a lot, the 18 degree grip angle of the M&P points very intuitively.

Ironically the Hellcat, which is the one I went to purchase is the only of the three I have never shot.

Would like to see your results with a P365 at 30 yards. 5 round, under 5 seconds. I think you’re FOS!

Is your disbelief a reflection on your equipment?

What I said was the Helllcat is a royal pain and the SAS sights don't work, for me.

If you're curious what a standard 365 can do, the Frisco Gun Club has a 25 yard bay in the VIP section.

I'll swing by Saturday and we both can try your 5x5x25. If I shoot don't shoot a 35 or better, I'll buy ya bourbon. Above, you owe me two for the aggravation. A 43 or better, you also post a picture of you smiling in front of MY target.

And bring your accurate handgun. I'm always interested in learning.

I hit a jack rabbit few weeks back at 30 yards. 6 shots to walk her in.

Don't be a Snowflake. Put that keyboard down and let's get some range time. I'll be up at FGC tomorrow at 11.

Bring your EBT card for my bourbon after.
