The 7 Rem Mag has not been shot in two years. It is time to head west. I put my Night Force ATACR on top, robbed from the .223 A.I. Checked the notes from the last time it was moved and dialed in the corrections. Cleaned the barrel to dry patches, checked torque on all screws, and started shooting.

Then went to the big range and verified the DOPE.

What are you hunting this year?

Got an invite to a ranch in Pecos County. I am mostly interested in mule deer, but I'm told it has a whitetail problem. And elk pass through on occasion, as well as black buck.

Just making sure I bring enough gun.

Best of luck. Mule deer are fun to hunt.

Part of the point in all this. It was fouling in. I adjusted zero one time. Bullets walked around because the barrel was fouling in after cleaning. .2 Mil left was a common pattern. I dialed right .2 Mil and fired #7. Then it was done at 100 yards. Zero the turrets and move on.

This is a Rock Creek 1:8.5 twist. Chambered center in the lathe to .0005"
600 rounds down the barrel, so it's as stable as one will ever be. I'm actually closer to being shot out than being new. Needed 6 rounds to settle in and act right.

That should be more than enough gun for that area. Been out there quite a bit and it’s truly no country for old men. Good luck.

I have hunted Sanderson for years.

It is country that will kill boots. Just move around knowing EVERYTHING has thorns on it. December will be in the 30's at dawn, 70's in the afternoon. And drink tons of water no matter what. But I love it!

You can dang sure see far.
