At one time, it was the best. Not so much anymore. I wish they would split their schedule with 2 formats. One show for AR/Tactical/Jewelry and Spice and another for Rifle/Revolvers/Knives.

By the time I pay for parking and tickets to get in, it gets expensive. IMO, City of Fort Worth greed killed the show.

X2. Used to be able to find actions, barrels, all kinds of parts. Last one I went to was 2-3 years ago, nothing but AR’s and semi auto pistols.

Aww heck it gets you out of the house and amongst others like yourself. Go have fun!

I wonder what the mask scene looks like inside a Fort Worth gun show.

+1

Used to hit the “big four” as we used to call them for years, Ft Worth, Bob Norman Ft Worth (or whatever it’s called now) Market Hall and Big Town. Really got some good deals over the years but that slowly trickled to a stop and I can’t remember the last firearm I bought at a show.

If I was looking to buy a new pistol I could see going to a show, to be able to see all the different models and be allowed to handle them.

I will say you can get some pretty good smoked cheese an’ jerky at the show though smile

I can order candles and cutlery online. It saves time, money, and headache. It's not really even a gun show anymore. The Ft Worth Flee Market or Ft Worth Bazaar would be a more appropriate name.

I use replaceable as well but this is an easy knife sharpener, even I can do it and i've never been able to get a good edge on a blade.

Scotty aint kidding, I use mine to sharpen all our knives and MIL's knives (why I don't know, poor lady can't cook for shoot). The guide makes the angle hard to screw up. I can do 20 knives in less time than 1 on a stone, better too.

Scott, I got several different grit belts at McMaster Carr.

I was shocked out how well it works. I've tried just about everything and it's the only thing that ever worked for me.

Love that thing. I suck at sharpening and this makes it easy.

Re: Fort worth gun show - 08/22/20 11:20 PM

I went because I had something I wanted to sell. Before covid, I stood a good chance of still finding good deals on tables either from sellers or people walking the isles. After Covid/riots and such - not at all no more. People see the rediculous $800 prices the "dealers" are asking for their Glocks and assume theirs is worth that too (meanwhile yesterday Scheels still had Glock .45 MOS for $649 and Glock 19x for $629)...so no buying since covid of anything. 9mm Ammo is NOT worth $30 a box!

However, I've had no problem selling good guns for what I think are decent (not butt rape prices). Today a Galil ACE 7.62x39 rifle for $1400 and last weekend a April 1990 manufactured pre-ban M1A (all USGI but the receiver) for $1900 - and that was with a USGI Smith Enterprises mount and Leupold VXR Firedot scope. On a table, they would have been asking over $2k for that M1A and the only other Galil in the box at the show today they were asking $1900 for.

Once prices drop down to realistic levels, I will still find gunshows a good place to find deals. Not every show mind you, but enough that it keeps me going to them.

Was there any kind of line to get in and were there any Covid complications like it being limited to a certain number of persons? I was thinking I might go tomorrow.

Re: Fort worth gun show - 08/22/20 11:54 PM

That's the wierd thing...there was a line last weekend at Mesquite but not today at Fort Worth - I even had no difficulty getting into the underground parking garage which is often iffy. I go around lunch time or after that way I miss the crowd - though granted if there were any "deals" they are likely gone by the time I get there too, but at least I don't wait in any lines. No onerous covid restricstions or anything other than wearing masks which I'm ok with (my wife wouldn't let me go otherwise smile )

I will note that the best dealers are still not at the shows. The ones with generally the best prices since the loss of Schramm's are Gun Zone and (my favorite) Past and Blast. I've not seen either come back yet.

I sure miss Bachman and SAW/Schramm. I actually got a couple of good deals on used revolvers from Past and Blast.
