Buzz, are you going blue steel and wood? Personal preference here but the short mag does well in a 24” barrel. For the long column of slow burning powder in the win mag 26” is better. Fun to see what you choose as you consistently exhibit good taste in firearms. up

Build something cool like a 9.3x62, 35 Whelen, 350 Rem Mag, 338-06...

My T3X in 300 Win Mag is a tack driver and hammers the animals. It loves the 190 grain Bergers.

The bullets will have to jump quite a ways in a Tilkka action, due to their feed ramp. Not the end of the world, for lots of bullets. Just preparing you. The one time I don't prefer to use a Tikka action is long action mag bolt face cartridges. So, .300 WSM out of the two you listed. But I would build a 7 WSM and load it with 180's coming out at 2830 MV.

Tikka? If you want to build a rifle with chit hot wood, build it on a Mauser type action like a Winchester 70.
