Ruger 57

Ruger 57 - 01/22/20 09:46 PM

Has anyone actually seen these in shops and what the price range is. I checked and Ray's said $799 but I thought this gun was going to be between $600 and $700. Is it just because they are so new that they are demanding a premium?

Thanks!

they seem to be in short supply and none of the box stores have them yet.

I was able to handle one yesterday. Surprisingly lite. I did not like the grip but that’s just me. $799 @ Wiley’s gun shop.

Ray's Hardware is high on everything, always have been, always will be. The only things they're reasonable on are NFA items.

When I'm buying new handguns I always order them from GT Distributors or my dad if I can get him motivated enough to order one from distribution.

seem everyone wants $799 while its hot and hard to find. I think I can wait it out for a few months.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the great draw to the 5.7x28 round. I think I must be missing something.

Other than it being light armor piercing, not much. Guns are big, ammo is expensive.

Re: Ruger 57 - 02/05/20 04:46 PM

Ammo has come way down and the Ruger is on a 1911 frame. 1650 to over 2400 fps, .22 caliber recoil and very accurate. The 57 still seems to be pre-sold before they arrive.

Re: Ruger 57 - 02/14/20 03:35 AM

It has a 1911 style ambidextrous safety, and 1911 style mag release. That's about all it has in common with a 1911. It's not a 1911 frame.

Saw someone buying one at Bass Pro Saturday. That was the last of what that store got. First time I have seen 57 ammo on the shelf at a basspro as well. Cabela's has stocked it for years

Getting one for my old mans b-day. I'm sure he will love it based on his history with the company. I call him "Freddy Ruger" clap

Had 3 at the Atwood’s in Paris late this week.
Buddy got one. Called me late evening and I went up there and got the second one.

Put a magazine through it earlier. Very light recoil. Easy follow up shots. Sights are great.
Very loud without muffs!

What ammo are you buying to do that?
