1980 MARLIN 336 30-30 - 12/25/19 04:51 PM

I already have a Marlin 336W in 30-30 but wanted a pre-safety older model and after going to a couple of gun shows without much luck as well as a couple of pawn shops most were not in very good shape. Well I found this one online and there were plenty of pics and looked to be well taken care of. I put a set of Talley Lightweight rings and a Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 on it. Merry Christmas to me banana

Well done. I occasionally carry Dad's. Something weird happens, since it was what I learned on, it just fits my hand and feels more natural than any other rifle I own. No sling has ever been on it. (PHs in Africa don't have slings on their rifles either. 'Just something else to get in the way.) Marlin hit a sweet spot that is rarely ever achieved in the gun industry.

Merry Christmas!

Great gun. I bought a 1970 336 a few months ago. Some of the screws were a bit loose on my gun. Take it apart, clean it and put it back together. After I cleaned it, the gun shot 1" MOA with Winchester 170 grain ammo. grin

Nice!!

You did better than me. I went through a whole box of Core Lokt 150gr and was all over the place. I ran a boresnake through it before I took it to the lease. It has brand new Talley Lightweight mounts and a new Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 and everything was torqued. I could never get 3 shots in the same location. My last 3 shots at 100yds before deciding it wasn't going to happen today was 2 at bottom left corner about 3 inches apart and 3rd shot was high and left of bullseye. I've never ran into this before so a little confused. I am going to do a good cleaning and remount scope and start over.

I love Marlins. I picked up this 1968 vintage rust-bucket rescue from my local pawn shop last year. Fortunately for me I do cerakote, so I media blasted it all and coated it in graphite black. Added some skinner sights and shes good to go. Pretty accurate given its shortcomings. Likes the Winchester 150 deer xp.

I really worked on getting all the copper out of the barrel. It was a chore!! I used Pro shot copper solvent. Good luck!!
