Kimber 1911's ??? - 11/09/18 12:43 AM

These guys used to get a bad rap, lots of complaints. I have owned two, a Micro .380 and a Dessert Warrior. Loved both.

Any CURRENT owners with NEW Kimbers, what do you think ??

Looking at buying one

PLEASE just New Kimber owners, not a Kimber bashing thread

I have 7 of them and have had zero problems with any of them. I highly recommend Kimber products. Most of mine are custom shop guns, but I one of the basic Custom II and have no issues. Love them all!

I have a 1911 combat that i love. Most accurate pistol i own. I also have the micro 380 that is my summertime carry gun. I recently shot it at my ranch and was having trouble with it cycling. Probably the cheap target ammo that i had at the time but a bit unsettling as i don't have the confidence in it that i once had. Went back to my single stack Springfield until i can try it again with some different Ammo. ( this weekend ).

Buddy got an Eclipse Custom II about 10 or 11 years ago. Definitely the nicest 1911 I've ever shot.

I've heard some of the ones from about 2014 to more recent are not at the same level of quality, but I haven't used one in person to know.

I've had nothing but good luck with Kimbers. I have had a number of them over the years, and they have all been good quality...

My wife has an Ultra CDP II, and we have one of their 22s. No problems on either.

I have prob a 10-12 year old Kimber.

It’s accurate for sure

The only issues I ever had I think were with the Kimber mags

I was looking on Gunbroker and can get a new Eclipse 10mm for around a grand. Seems like a good deal

Then I saw the new HEX Kimber with RMR sight and rail for laser. Gun for the old blind guys

My wife and I both have a Micro 380. It is her primary carry over her Shield 9mm and mine is my backup and light clothing carry. I think you hit the nail on the head about the cheap ammo. We have only had a couple of hiccups with ours and it has been with target ammo. Quality self defense ammo has never caused any problems with ours. Great little pistols IMO.

I picked up an Ultra Carry II in 9mm two years ago. Carry it all the time. Shoot it often. Not one malfunction or issue or complaint.

I have a super carry ultra that has had problems with failure to feed since I got it. I polished the feed ramp and it still has problems. I just stuck it in my safe and quit shooting it.

I have a Kimber Raptor II stainless in 9mm. I love it but I've only shot a few times. I'm thinking about selling it because it doesn't fit my shooting lifestyle. She's basically a safe queen for me. Don't be surprised if you see it in the classified section soon.

I have a friend that is a range officer. By his own admission, he cannot shoot a 1911. Every one he's ever shot malfunctioned. I let him try my Ruger SR1911 and he didn't experience a malfunction. Then he tried my Ultra Carry II. Lo and behold, it failed to feed. This was right after I'd just ran 50 rounds through it without an issue. I took it back, went back on the range and fired 50 more without a single issue. Now understand, this guy can shoot. He's quick and accurate, has excellent fundamentals, but for some unknown reason, he cannot shoot 1911's.

I've seen a lot of guys complaining about malfunctions, but when you look at their gun, it's dry as a powder keg. I've found that 1911's like to be well lubed. I keep mine lubed, use quality ammo and magazines. No issues.
