Painted rifles - 05/07/18 02:10 AM
Anybody ever painted an AR with the Krylon camo rattle can stuff? Debating giving it a try.
Bunch of YouTube videos. Finish is only as good as the prep work.

Painted bolt guns.
Wipe all clean with acetone
Primer X 2
Colors
Flat finish clear X 3
Plenty of time to dry in between coats.

Painted a few with Krylon. Prep prep prep. It works good, Brown don’t as durable as cerakote, but then again it’s a fraction of the cost.

I would do it on a truck rifle, inexpensive AR or Ruger American Ranch Rifle with the 10 round magazine.
Never on an expensive gun. It would go to a professional Cerakoter.

I'm old, nothing will ever replace a good blue job and good wood. (Except on AR's and such).

Did one of my LMT's about 7 years ago, other than on the bottom edge of mag well, it has held up really well.
