Cheapest ammo I found with ammoseek is over $.50/rd, with most over $1.

I agree it’s very long. 24 inches to be exact. But CMMG said it was the best from their tests to achieve everything that caliber has to offer. IDK, I’ll stick with my 5.56 & 7.62

An answer to a question that nobody asked.

Re: CMMG 224 Valkryie - 01/16/18 10:43 PM

this caliber came up over the weekend
at first glance I was like, "meh"

But, 6.8 case neck down to 22 has some appeal
Not in a big rush until more ammo makers get on board like Hornady for me personnaly

Doing some digging and this thread was pretty objective.

That applies to just about every new cartridge released the last 50 years. Gun companies have to get you excited to buy more rifles.

I would be interested to see actual velocities on Valkryie. Sounds like you need a long barrel which is not typically desirable in an AR.

Parent cases have been wildcatted for a very long time.

If I had some brass, I'd like to play with different powders to see what I see.

If claimed velocity is 2700 FPS with 90 grains out of a 24” barrel; I’m thinking about 2550 from a 18”.

Time will tell after people start offering them in shorter lengths.

I would drop bullet weight down to 75 and 80, first thing.

people are always looking for the newest ballistics...

Supposedly this caliber will be able to be 1k on a small frame ar. Think of all those 500 dollar ARs that you could just slap one of these uppers on and legitimately go to 1k (being able to see the bullet impact being beside the point)
