Gunsmithing

I wanna get into gunsmithing as a career but don't really know where to start is there any places that have actual classes near the dfw most of them seem like they are online and if that's the path that I need to take then I can do that but I'd rather have something that's an actual class thanks

If you're going to do it, do it right and go to Colorado School of Gunsmithing. There are a couple of other programs that are okay too, but I surely would never screw with any of the on-line or correspondence crap if I was a young buck. When investing in your future, don't get chinchy.

From what I understand, there isn’t much money to be made in general gunsmithing. Seems that the ones that do well with it build customs and semi-customs, they do it well, and earn a reputation for it. Just something to consider.

The school in Trinidad CO is the place you want to go. Beware, there are easier ways to make money. 90% or more of the people that attend the legit schools arent able to make it work.

So far it's working for me, but the work I do is highly specialized, takes a lot of skill, and the clientele are willing to support it. I've been lucky enough to afford "paying my dues". I'd hate to have to do general gunsmithing or make a name in the immensely saturated tactical market.

Murray State College in Tishomingo Oklahoma has a Gunsmithing program. They also have summer courses put on by the NRA and Brownells where you can learn to build a 1911, machining courses, do finishes etc. Not too far from the DFW area. I have to go in for another back surgery soon but can’t wait to go back to work.
