Your favorite bottom metal ( non bdl hinged)

Your favorite bottom metal ( non bdl hinged) - 12/02/17 02:42 AM

I'm thinking about ordering a new stock and getting magazine acceptable instead of hinged BDL style. I prefer a smoother look and not a bunch of tactical hang down or over builtness. No magpul either

What's out there?

They all work but.....
The absolute best is Surgeon hands down
American Precision Arms
Seekin

After thes 3 it's a toss up

I put PTG on mine and have been happy with them, and it's the same one APR puts on most of their rifles. Also, about half the price of others. I had to do a little sanding with sand paper on one of the mags to get it to drop in and out easily, but no other adjustments were required.

I have been very happy with Wyatts, no tinkering to get them working. P_102

I like the Surgeon, CDI, and Wyatt’s, none of them have the mag release hanging down below a flush mag

CDI for me.

Mag release doesn't hang down even as far as the trigger guard.

The APA dbm lever is integrated in to the trigger guard. Pretty cool

Seekins has a push button similar to an AR on the side of the trigger guard pretty cool

But the Surgeon fit finish support is the magazine is superior to all, additionally the lever is oriented horizontally. Amazingly awesome

CDI PTG: material high quality, function high quality, refinement just slightly below the others I mentioned

But just pick one that looks good to you cuz they all work really well

The last 3 CDI I have had my hands on (a customer's rifle, a friend's rifle, and a new one for me) required file work on the mag catch. I've been meaning to call Jeff and ask him what's going on.

Just in case you want to take a look at other options....PTG has about 15 different models/variations to choose from:

That's disappointing, I've never had issues w the 4 Surgeon DBMs I personally owned. But I have noticed slight variations on the catch of the magazines causing issues especially when trying to run aw mags and alpha mags

I don't know if Jeff is intentionally leaving them a tad long, allowing a gunsmith to file to fit, or what. There are plenty of us that don't have a gunsmith do this tyoe work, and get the parts to jive ourselves. Driving out the roll pin repeatedly seems like more trouble than leaving the catch in, and filing with the DBM installed. Trial and error the magazine fitment and latching.

I love the clean look of the CDI. Mine so far functions perfectly.

Hmmm.... I’m a bit biased but I’d say either one of these....
