Blaser rifles

nope to rich for my blood... would if I could afford it... shot a few of them and they are sick... that slide action is amazazingly smooth

Haven't owned one, but I have shot plenty. I think they are one of the 7 wonders of the world. The straight pull bolt is crazy! The rifle has no "action" per se. The interchangeable barrel concept is cool. And they shoot stupid accurate. The bolt rides in the stock, and locks into the barrel. For the crazy system that it is, it's amazing.

Shot one yesterday.

I don't want one.

I know it's had the hell engineered out of it, but I just can't get the thought of eating a bolt at high speed out of my head if something went wrong.

And yeah, they're $$$$.

I have owed about 20 of there products--they are excellent. I have 3 R8 frames 5 barrels right now--and a K95 in a 22 savage hi power right now. I have owned S2 doubles,F3 shotguns,R93s, R8s, K95s, and one D99 that was a double rifle shotgun drilling--really cool rifle. What's your question? I bought my first one in 1997 R93 off-road--because I was left handed. 2 barrel set 257 WBY mag and 338 win mag...I killed a lot of stuff with that rig.

Could be true for any bolt gun, just the bolt lug holding it into the action rather than the barrel.

true, which do you trust 2 lugs covering what 40% or less of the bolts cir conference or a Colette that covers 100% of the bolt circumference. Both work and you will never find a rifle with a shorter bolt throw.

The Blaser bolt system is MUCH stronger than any 2 or 3 locking lug action system, period.

My buddy just bought one and had it threaded. Chambered in 7mag, nice and balanced well. Not stupid accurate they are just as picky as any other rifle. We tried several brands and bullet weights and it seemed to like the Hornady 178’s the best.

I owned most of those over 20 years--so did not have them all at once. I probably have a pick of my R93s some where I had 11 barrels at one time I had some cool ones like 10.3x60r (Swiss canton barrel). My D99 was the first one they imported into the US...it was a dang fine gun! A good friend of mine was a dealer and we traded a lot of stuff--I have pared down on blaser stuff--not because I don't like it--but they have just gotten ridiculous on pricing. $1200 for extra barrels and 400-500 for a scope mounts...not so bad when you look at Spurh mounts but they are not cheap...plus a R8 maindraw back is it's heavy....other than that they are a fine firearm.

I work with a few south African's that love them.

I've owned two. Never really liked them.
They are so light that the recoil on larger calibers is hard to bear.
They are 1.5" guns at best and the interchangeable barrel deal isn't a good deal
The barrels are higher than most good rifles and you have to have a scope for each one.
The straight pull is pretty cool.

R93s are somewhat light the R8s are a good pound heavy to a similar synthetic rifle such as a R700. So don't agree.

Most I had were much better than 1.5 inch guns--so I'n my opinion you didn't work up much of a load. I had a 222 , 6.5-284 barrel and a 9.3x62 barrel that were the most accurate guns I ever owned. My 257 was fair--still was better than 1.5 inches--Blaser will replace the barrel if it does not shoot MOA... So you should have looked at getting yours replaced.

And your friend might have replaced your barrels but Blaser would not. That was from 96 till 2000.
If the guns shot to their specs then they would replace. And their specs were not 1" at the time. This was when Sig was importing them. And if the guns you listed were the only calibers you owned then recoil would not have been an issue. I had 300 Winchester and 340 weatherby.
I did not say they were bad guns I just did I did not feel they were worth the dollars involved to own one.
There are a LOT of better choices out there for that kind of money or less.

I love the thought of the straight back and forward bolt and would love to have the budget for one of these guns. I don't think they could command the price if there was an issue with there system.
For those that can afford this gun... more power to ya brother!

Own 1 338 tac 1. Shoots lights out. I have had it out to 1200 yards shoots MOA all day if I do my part. it is a left handed model and I shoot right handed, so people look at my funny at the range. Until they see the convenience of operating a straight back bolt. I love it. Heavy as a small block Chevy though.

No I did not work for Harold. When sig started importing the rifles they took the distriburorship from him. I worked for Sig. Harold was a dealer for a,couple of years after that but not the exclusive dealer like he was pre Sig.
and looking back I think the years were 97 to 2001. I still stay up on them just to know our competitors. Don't see them as much since Sig split the Mauser and Blaser lines from their other products.
