Building on a Marlin xs7 - 12/23/14 03:41 PM

So I just bought one of these .308's from a friend of mine for fairly inexpensive so I figured I would go ahead and make it a long range setup. I am really just looking for any advice as to what I need and where to buy it. As of now I have looked at Boyd's gun shop for thumb hole stocks and now I am just wondering where I could find a bull barrel for it at? Any info will be greatly appreciated!

That might be kinda like building a rat rod out of a 1961 Rambler sedan

Look at the Shaw barrels.

I have an XS7 in Stainless, 7mm-08. A shooting son-of-a-gun.

My son has one in .308. Also an awesome shooter.

I had one in 30-06 that would shoot under an inch from the factory. Shoulda never sold that one...

Check out marlinowners.com forum, there is a section for the xs/xl rifles. I have a .270 that I am very happy with. I may put ametal trigger guard and walnut stock on it but otherwise it doesnt anything-shoots winchester powerpoints under an inch group consistently.

McGowen Barrels used to offer pre-fit barrels for the Marlin X7 series. I don't think they are listed on their website anymore, but I bet a call to them could get what you want. It is also an option to do some slight machine work on a Savage pre-fit and make it work.
