I had a somewhat verified pic sent to me and it just seems too early to me. Anyone seen fawns drop this early in N Central Texas?

Given the size ranges I've seen in recent years, I believe they can start as early as March and birth as late as August, maybe even later.

Granted, this one hasn't fawned yet, but look at the size of that belly. She's close. 200 days back from today was 10/19, certainly believable that some would have bred by then.

Saw one this morning in South Central Texas. Looked to only be a day or two old.

No fawns seen here yet, but we do have some massively pregnant doe. Hopefully the big one will have twins. The wife loves having twin fawns around.

Also on the game camera was a big coyote at 1:30 this afternoon. Not good. I need to get off my tail and hunt.

Been taking a lot of coyotes out but wish I would have gotten a few more. No fawns here but looks like some of the doe are ready to explode.

Yep
That's why I've tried to get people that wt deer hunt and turkey hunt to invest in a few traps
and learn how to properly use them.
Along with a few D.P. traps to set around feeders

I trap, call them and shoot every one I see but there seems to be a never ending supply of them.

Certainly possible to have fawns this early, but the vast majority will be born late this month and all of June. Have seen some born as late as August.

No sir
You can't paddle Noah's ark by yourself.
It'd be way better if everyone would help out just a bit.
I tried just hunting for several years, but I realized that
you have to have some traps out as well.
Traps are ready for action 24/7

^^^^^

Almost a certainty. Mature Does (on good habitat) will very often have twins, almost the norm.

In most settings, it is hard to know how many fawns were born to a Doe until they are up following her and nursing. In the iterim....one or more may have been lost to predation/other.

Where I live, the Coyote population is high and no doubt, they take their share of fawns.

Currently....I am mowing pastures and won't mow again until August to avoid running over any fawns and to provide more hiding places for them.

Wow, that IS early!

That would mean the Doe was bred around the middle of Sept. the previous year.

Bucks (the majority) are certainly ready by then. Having a hardened antler and elevated testosterone levels.

A little unusual for a Doe to be in estrous at that time of year, but apparently it happens. Thanks for sharing. up

This was taken yesterday. I'm at the north end of Ray Roberts. I have not seen any fawns yet. Looks like we're close.

I was trying to upload a picture of, but was having problems and gave up. My wife was taking our lab for a walk and the lab stuck her head in some bushes. Wife thought it was a rattlesnake until she saw the fawn.

28 coyotes off the ranch the past two years. Last year's fawn crop was the best I've ever had.
