Dad had other things to do today so I decided to fish half a day by myself. The main focus was suppose to be Crappie but they were acting really funny today. Just about the time I thought I had them figured out they would quit on me. I ended up with 12 really nice keepers and probably lost that many as well.

One spot I stopped at was loaded with what looked to be Sandbass but I could not get them figured out either but they were THICK!!! I ended up giving up on them and went Bass fishing and caught a few but nothing big but those fished that were stacked kept weighing on my mind so I went back. I downsized my lure and went to 4 pound line and started whacking them every cast. I quickly got my limit and then made one more stop before heading back to the ramp. I ended up picking up 3 more nice Crappie there and on my very last cast I hung something BIG!! I figured it was a Catfish but I was wrong. After about 30 minutes on 4 pound line I was able to get the net under a 18-20 pound Buffalo.

I also caught a very nice Bass on a Crappie Jig. Did not have a scale but she was probably 5ish pounds.

I have perfected the frying and eating part. LOL! I am still working on the baking part. I just cant find a baked fish recipe that I actually like. I try over and over again but I cant make myself like any of it. About the best I have found so far is some Fish Monger sea food seasoning. Its good to me and Dad thinks its great, but I would much rather fry it than bake it.

Have you tried brining it before baking? Just wondering. I see Hi Mountain touting their gourmet fish brine and I wonder if that would add some flavor.

I have not. Maybe thats where I am going wrong.

What I do is pat the fish dry and then coat it with olive oil and sprinkle seasoning on it and bake about 18 minutes. I have one heck of a collection of seasonings that I have tried but never tried a brine. I might do that this weekend. I would not say any of it turned out bad, I just cant find a good alternative to frying it. Probably the worst was a blacked seasoning.
