How many states have you held hunting licenses for? In addition to TX, I have held licenses for CO, WY, UT, MT, CA, HI, NE, KS, SD, AL, FL, VA, PA and NH. Some of them I held as a pure Non-Res but not all. One good thing about spending a lot of time active duty is that you can be considered a resident in 2 states, your home of record, and the state you serve active duty in. The 25+ years I wore an active duty uniform I was a resident of CO (this was before the state got invaded by CA) so I could hunt deer, elk and bear as a resident while also holding a resident license in a place like VA. Got to take a lot of game that way.
So, just curious as to the licenses others have held.

I've only held licenses in CO, WY, NM, TX, OH, ID and AZ. Only state I was not successful in killing (by choice) was AZ.

Tx, Ok, La. When I was going to trade school in Louisiana I got to hunt with some friends on a large dairy farm. I was 19 years old and took a 21" inside spread WT in a swamp on the north side of the pastures. They ran dogs back then and talk about a rush. Had family land in NE Oklahoma that was also a dairy farm. My aunt and uncle had a very nice alfalfa field and wheat field and wanted the deer population reduced. I was glad to go up and help.

When I was in the Air Force I did a lot of traveling. I had 8 states fishing license. A game warden checked me on Bull Shoals. I was going thru the license to find Arkansas. He asked what I did for a living. When I told him he told me to forget it I was good.

Grew up in VA next to the Jefferson National Forest and spent every day I could there. Didn't get a hunting license when I lived in Florida for a few years, wish I had though. So just VA and TX so far.

Bro you gotta change that. Really want to, planning on entering some New Mexico stuff next year, potentially Wyoming this year if I haven’t missed the app deadline. I have had a fishing license in Florida and Louisiana.

When you are ready next year PM and I can help you

We definitely enjoy our thing here in Texas, but time and funds permitting there is a lot more I’d like to do.

Bro you gotta change that. Some of us like putting all our eggs in one basket. Worst thing to happen to me was MLD management, WT’s just don’t have same allure My daughter drew a great mule deer tag this year and I’m about as fired up as I have been. I was in the same unit last year, same week and saw a few studs. I hope I’m not to conservative on giving her green light, it’s a blessing and a curse knowing what’s in there

I was in the same unit last year, same week and saw a few studs. I hope I’m not to conservative on giving her green light, it’s a blessing and a curse knowing what’s in there What killed it for me was the micro managment of south Texas deer herds. Age alone wasn’t enough, they had to have so many points, certain characteristics, etc and if he was too big or too unique, you had to let him go as “breeding stock”. Couldn’t bring a buck back to camp without hearing at least one negative thing, then even started hearing things like “those does are too young”. Watching deer for years on camera and then Haveing to take a picture of the deer before you shoot it to get the green light, etc, it ruined it for me. I’m much happier now shooting mature hill country bucks that score 120” than dealing with all the b.s that comes along with a south Texas trophy lease. But I digress…. Chevy, There are several low cost options to do some out of state hunts, even for whitetails. Just to get your feet wet

Buck management for or against doesn’t bother me, I probably lean more conservative personally than most on my own current lease, but volume of MLD tag numbers is what beat me down.
I also don’t like sitting in a blind, I like to bang horns, and go on walkabouts.

I also don’t like sitting in a blind, I like to bang horns, and go on walkabouts. That is the issue for me, I just really don't like sitting in a blind and watching a feeder or food plot. I would much rather be moving around and seeing what is around the next bend, or over the next rise. I love seeing new country and finding new adventures.
