What is your list of summer time to do's on your hunting property? Thought it might be a good resource. I like to stay consistent throughout the year working towards the next season. Mineral blocks deployment, shooting lane clearing, food plot maintenance, access trails, camp improvements, etc. What do yall do?

Tighten up blinds; pest strips and rat poison for the "old school" ones. Kill (trap) pigs if they reach critical mass. Light brush piles if it rains enough.

Need to box blade my roads, cut regrowth cedar, trim cedar that is along the roads, put out feed & water, dig and spray cactus that is all of a sudden making a big showing around the house area, cut down some dead shin oaks and the one I'm dreading the most.....paint both cabins.

On the short list is change tractor oil

One July, after some timely rains, on a lease I was on north of Sanderson, every different species of cacti (and there were a lot of different species) was blooming. Hot as hell, but it was a beautiful sight. Sometimes you gotta stop and smell the roses...or at least look at the cactus.

yeah the cactus on our ranch is incredible some years.

we put cameras out in July, clean up around camp, check all of the feeders and check the pens they are in, plus alot more - best part is just getting to tool around the ranch - I love being down there

I just sprayed the baby mesquites today and put a little DE in the corn feeders. Next trip will cut the grass in the feed pens and around camp. A little road trimming and camp fence work will round out the next trip. Rinse and repeat monthly.

My farm in Ozark Mountains in MO, no lease but always year round game management and preparation for these whitetails. Going to disc and plant seed on food plot second week in June. Need to move a Muddy Tripod from the south end of plot about 120 yards to north side of plot. Trim some limbs on other stands and set cell cameras back up. September 15 is archery season takes 90 days for food plot to get full growth potential so it’s all about timing no feeders no mineral blocks etc. in Missouri just plots and knowing the corridors they travel. When I get on that tractor in June I get excited because it’s 3 months away and time to get after them again in September.

Just keep out a high P mineral here in the Hills. Spray mesquite coming up in my senderos in South Texas. Not worried about feeding protein, just asking the Good Lord to send more rain.
Adios,
Gary

Heal well! The wife had knee replacement last Thursday. I don't like being Head Nurse, Cook AND Drill Sergeant. I thought the Drill Sergeant was supposed to do the yelling. confused2

Keeping water and protein stations full is top priority for summertime on our lease. I usually try to have one weekend that is focused on keeping up my camp. Spray or trim mesquite along the roads and feeder areas. Repair roads as necessary and shred (if it rains).

Went up to the place yesterday to bring up a couple new feeders and after I put them out, I decided I just could not take the sudden cactus infestation any longer.

Used a combo of digging them up with the bucket and pushing them with the box blade.

Got several areas done, now I need to spray and burn the piles and re-level the dirt with the box blade.

I don’t hate it when it’s present in low numbers, but for some reason, this spring it has really jumped in both size and area. Doesn’t make sense as I don’t shred at all and I don’t know why all of a sudden it decided to blow up.

Don’t really need another chore but I’m gonna start spraying Mezavue to eliminate a lot of it
