While enroute from here to yonder, we stopped at Jeans Feed Barn Cafe in Cross Plains. I had a chicken fried and the wife had a hamburger steak. The CFS was very good, as was the wife’s meal, and the portions were large. Well worth the money.

The Mexican restaurant nearby had a packed, and large, parking lot. Must be good food there also.

The Mexican place is marginal at best, parking lot probably full due to lack of choice

I've been to both and thought they were both good. My hunting partner likes the Feed Barn better.

I've only driven through once, but it looked like a neat little town. One of my grandfathers was born there, before 1910.

I hunt a friend’s ranch near Cross Plains every year.
We have eaten at both Jean's and Mexico City Cafe. Both good.
The car museum is good too. Cars and baseball memorabilia.

Have hunted just south of XPlains for 25 years. Will take Mexico City Cafe over Jean's every. single. day.

When I didn't care what I ate, I would get the chorizo and eggs or migas with two pancakes. Talk about some chinga-bien-comida after a cold rainy morning in the deer blind. Then, go back to the ranch and stretch out on the couch while dozing off to Blazing Saddles or Lonesome Dove with a full belly and an alarm set to get back in a deer blind by 3. THAT is a perfect day!

Yes.
On the couch covered in dogs.
Wake me up if it stops raining.
