Had a great trip out of Destin over to Orange Beach, AL and then out to the oil rigs with an old friend and his son. The ocean was a little rough once we got off shore a bit with 4-5’ waves, but then calmed down as the evening went on (the keeping an eye on the horizon and dramamine helped me out). Can’t get over the size of the rigs… things were huge. We got on some Black Fin Tuna pretty quick and it was awesome. Apparently they don’t fight as hard as the Yellow Fin, but was more than anything I’ve ever had on the end of my line. We caught them using jigs about 100-150 feet down. Was an awesome trip and something I’ll never forget!

I never threw up, but I felt it pretty good a few times. Almost fell over in the shower when I got home and closed my eyes. Heck I still feel like I’m moving and on a boatgrin

It was Jimbo! After living in North Texas my whole life, we moved out here right before Christmas. The wife and I have been coming here for years and really like the area. We’re about 40 miles East of Destin and 20 miles West of Panama City Beach so it’s not as crowded as those bigger cities. So far so good and we are pretty much settled in. up Loads of wildlife out here… gators, tons of deer, big black bears, hogs, turkey… you name it. Looking forward to doing some hunting.

Sounds wonderful. I’m wanting to take the wife there sometime this summer.

We like it. Shoot me a PM when you come and and my wife and I will meet y'all for dinner somewhere. Lots of good restaurants around.

Thx Kyle! What we need to do is get on some of those peacocks over in your area. They are on the bucket list for sure!

Yes Sir all is good! Ended up giving that jacket you gave me to the young man next to me in the picture above. He said it’s his favorite and he wears it all the time. up

Thanks guys! Tonight’s dinner was marinaded in fresh squeezed orange and lemon juices in melted butter with some garlic salt and cracked pepper. Unlike Wade, I just can’t do the raw stuff, so I grilled it until it flaked apart. A little mashed potatoes and green beans. Man o manfood

Yessir! Red snapper should be coming up too. A few weeks back, we took a charter 40 miles off St. Pete and got into some hefty Red Grouper. I also picked off a ~15-20lb snapper at 120 ft that was out of season. I got misty-eyed letting that sucker go, but such is the law. If you ever make it down this way, I'm sure we can put something together. up
