Texas Trophy Hunters will be producing the first Hunting and Fishing Extravaganza in Midland, TX at the Horseshoe on April 11-13. I will be there and giving seminars on Saturday and Sunday. I hope to see a lot of my great West Texas Friends at this event. I feel that hosting a show like this in Midland is long overdue.
Adios and Hope to see you there,
Gary

Maybe so, but the shows in the past didn't bear that out. The biggest problem in years past was the lack of booth/outfitter participation, as it was rather sparse. There sure won't be a shortage of customers/people being able to afford whatever is there though.

I feel like with the history and experience of the TTHA, there will be more exhibitors and typically more outfitters. I am expecting a pretty big crowd.
Adios,
Gary

I just looked at the list of exhibitors and it appears that there will be well over 20 outfitters from across Texas and other parts of the world. I talked with one of the girls with TTHA and they said that they thought that there was only one or two booths available yesterday, so should be a full house.
Hope to see you there!
Gary

Thanks, kwrhuntinglab! I appreciate you sitting through the seminar. Traffic was extremely slow at this show. It was extremely disappointing as I feel that TTHA made a strong effort to get the work out. The Horseshoe was a great venue and the building was full of excellent exhibitors. I feel like July may be a better time to hold this event as there were a lot of other events that competed. I also think that April is one of the few months that it is comfortable to be outdoors for golf, fishing and other outdoor events. There was construction on IH 20 making it difficult to exit off at the Horseshoe.
If you have any great ideas, I would appreciate hearing them.
Adios,
Gary

I was disappointed that it was a low turnout as well. I was driving by the event on Sunday on my way out of town and noticed the parking lot was very low especially for it being noon. Summer is probably a better time, but i also heard that because of the high number of outfitters that was there, that could have been a turnoff as well. I meant to go back by to purchase a FREQ but got on a work call and walked out like a dummy. Pm me on how to order one would you.

I wanted to go but Sunday was just too busy with practice for our church's passion play.

Putting Christ and your Church is ALWAYS the best decision. We will be back in Midland, hopefully in July next year.

Gary

Amen Gary.

I was afraid this was going to happen, hence my comments earlier in this thread. For some reason, hunting shows have never gone over very big at this event no matter who put it on as there were never more than a handful of actual outfitters/high fenced ranches there, as it was mostly merchandise, ear plugs, misc. atv's and parts, etc. I am not slamming TTHA, but we outfitted for a number of years, and that show in Ft Worth evolved into not much more than a hunting stand, deer feeder/parts, camo clothing, and high fenced protein infested deer hunting show with some BBQ stuff and sausage thrown in.

Like was already stated, time of year was likely a major contributor to low turn out. Last weekend was beautiful and I took full advantage of it.

Do it in the summer when its 115 and people WANT to be in the air conditioning. Not to mention hunting season is around the corner and on more folks' minds. That, and I-20 should be in a little better shape.

I agree. April is one of the few months when the weather is usually pretty nice. I like July as August is already booked with shows in Houston, Ft. Worth and San Antonio.
