My son has been home this past week from A&M for spring break. He's getting his degree in Industrial Engineering and needed time away from the numbers. We were in Waco, just us hanging out for the weekend. Hit the Texas Ranger Museum, Texas Sports Hall of Fame, Cabelas, you know, guy things. As we were talking, he asked me about my time in the service. I've never really talked that much about it to him except for the fun parts. He got quite for a moment and said "Dad, when I graduate I want to be a fighter pilot". After I picked up my jaw off the floor, I told him of course I would support him. I did request two promises, 1. Finish school, get the degree, 2. I get first ride. He said he has spoke with ROTC and they told him the same thing, finish the degree and in the meantime, will help him to achieve that goal. I couldn't be more proud. I think anyone who takes time out of their lives in service of their country speaks volumes about their character as well as how they were raised.

That's awesome! He definitely would need a degree if he wants to fly something in the Air Force or Navy, and for the most part, the Army.

If you live near DFW, I can walk you both down the F-35 production line at Lockheed. He’d get to see real time industrial engineering and something he could potentially fly.

My son and I went on that tour. It was awesome.

Simulator was broken. That sucked.

Outstanding!
My buddy's grandson finished the Air Force Academy last spring and is in flight school in Pensacola now.

If I'd have to pick it's Go Navy!
