Popped a coon in a DP yesterday and got a gobble back from the sound of the 22.

Not sure who he was trying to impress, as I've got a dozen pics of him and he's so far by himself. But he was strutting on Friday. ![[Linked Image]](https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54378471471_3698d5433f_o.jpg)

Mine are strutting with the pack , several big toms at once but no fights yet . I am going to take a friend and her 10 yo girl turkey hunting and let the girl do some calls . She should enjoy seeing a tom come in to her call .

A buddy videoed a gobbler breeding a hen east of Menard this morning. My big group of gobblers that I feed on the river have moved to the hills which is a sign that they going to start breeding. I am very concerned that most hens will not breed as there is simply not enough green vegetation (keratin) out there to get the hens cycling. When the hens don't cycle, the gobblers will gobble and chase for a few weeks and then stop gobbling. This makes for a very poor spring season as I will not shoot a gobbler in the spring unless he comes strutting into the call. Pray for rain immediately, as they need to consume a certain amount of keratin before they will cycle. Adios, Gary

I heard them calling the next field over last week like 3pm. Was the first nice sunny day after that front. Might have gotten them excited
