Last week my buddy and I the pleasure of going on our first Javelina hunt down near Falfurrias TX. We had a great time. Both days were a tad warm and in the low nineties. Our host corned the roads for us where where he usually sees Javelinas. About 5:30 PM a group of Javelinas came out on the far end of corned road about 350 yards away from where I was sitting. Since I was hunting with a 22 Hornet, a bit too far for any any shots. We were told they have poor eye sight, he was right. I grabbed by rifle and Bog Death Grip and closed to around 75 yards. My first shot, the javelina jumped on the shot and took off into the woods. The rest scattered. Ten minutes later the group came back out. I dropped the second one in its's tracks. I walked down and the other Javelina I shot just in the woods. He went maybe five yards from where he was shot. That concluded my hunts. One was a really nice sized boar with nice cutters or caines. Not sure the correct term. The other a smaller sow.

My buddy struck out Friday evening. Next morning he connected with his first Javelina. That evening he connected with his second one. His hunts were much like mine, stalk to within 75 to hundred yards for his shots. I gotta say, Javelina hunting is a lot of fun, especially stalking them. It's much like hog hunting. I'm having a double table pedestal mount done with mine.

Distance is not the issue, but the winds can make it interesting!

Good job.
