From the will it work files.

The corn in my feeder kept bridging over every 3rd or 4th throws despite the clearing efforts I have used for 10 years.

I hammered the bottom of the wire flat and clamped it down real tight. The clamp sits below the opening and the tray is a little lower than usual. So far it works fine.

So will it work? All na sayers welcome.

Looks good to me, but I'm not known for my engineering expertise. up Here's to the asymmetrical weight not wallowing out the motor in some way. confused2

That's possible. We will see.

What was causing it to gum up at the funnel? Moisture or dust or unknown?

It could work, until it loosens enough, but time will tell.

I don't know. Every time this has happened in the past just one probe with a wire and it would start working.
Tried 4 times this time...it would run then stop up again.

Yeah was the corn not flowing while the motor was running? If that is the case, it sounds like maybe you have too much corn dust in there. A simple wire will not clear out a wet corn mash.

One thing to think about, is maybe you have some bugs in there eating the corn and creating some dust. I would let it run down and then clean up any remaining dust and make sure there are no bugs in there. Let it stay dry for a week or so, and then try again...if this McGuyer-ism doesn't work

That is possible. Yes the motor was running with corn not flowing.

A small amount of DE will help tremendously with "bugs". Doesn't take much.

Consider this, the down spout is a little too long and the opening on the spout is too wide. Both of these items could encourage the corn to clog as it comes down to the spinner plate.

It will work. For years I have often epoxied a long roofing nail slightly off center onto the spin plate of some of my feeders.
