I may have seen steel drums for sale that were taller than the standard 55 Gallon size. I'd like to find one, same Ø as 55 gallon but more capacity. Is there such a thing?

I've seen 100 gallon stainless steel drums. No idea where to get one.

I wish you did, sounds perfect.

They are called overpack drums, and the common sizes are 70, 85, and 110 gallons. Used for overpacking standard size DOT drums, and large enough to allow the handling clamp to fit inside. New 85-s are about $275, from Global Ind, Cary, or U-Line. Check with any waste handling or recycling company and they should be able to line you up

A company called Greif (not grief), makes drums in the Houston area. I once had a contract to buy from them. You might be able to get some ‘seconds’ at a discount.

Dallas drums also sell 85 gallon drums.

I once had a yellow drum that was designed to put a 55 gallon drum into for Hazmat shipping I THINK. Only one I ever saw or had and don't remember where i got it, long time ago. This may be what Blank is talking about.

That's exactly what it was for according to what I've read today. That answered my question on diameter. I'd still like to get one, I'll call on Monday.

Just out of curiosity, what do y’all pay for a steel 55 gallon drum?

Took a quick look on FB Marketplace, and there are hundreds of used drums available for $5-20 dollars each in Texas. Don't know your specific use, but I definitely would specify a ring closure with removable lid, over one with bungs. Too many nasty chemicals are shipped in liquid-tite drums, and will etch the steel and smell forever.

I’m pretty sure I have at least one ring closure for a 55 gal drum. Might even have a top. Let me know if anyone wants it.
