Does anyone have any recent information on the quality of the hunts at Mariposa ranch?

I hunted there several years ago...2017 would be my guess. Beautiful wild quail ranch...sandy soils with in oak mottes...owner is a little quirky on the way he runs things...does not allow his drivers to drive off of roads, so you let dogs out and they run around while you stay in the truck until they go on point...sometimes you can see the dogs work sometimes you cannot...driver has to stop and make periodic phone calls checking in with owner, updating him on coveys pointed, flushed, birds shot, birds recovered...
Multiple nice little houses to stay in, they cook/serve your meals but they are portion controlled, no seconds, no snacks provided...
...overall the were some pretty decent dogs, guides were ok, property is beautiful...nice experience...pricy.

Quirky to say the least. Accurate description of place. Text if you want more detail.

Pretty sure I hog hunted there a long time ago. It was a very odd hunt. The place was definitely called Mariposa Ranch. There was a natural hot spring there, set up like a rock hot tub.
Not my monkeys, not my circus...

When I was there Ronnie was running the program but not our guide. Some of the guides did Smith seminars and some of the dogs were from the trainer’s northern grouse dogs. They were good dogs. Clients would send them down with guides after northern seasons closed to get more experience. The place is on the sand shield and the trucks stayed on trails because of this.

It was Ronnie's program and most of the guides we hunted with were from out of state (Utah, Kentucky, etc...) that were in his guide training program...Ronnie stopped by and chatted with our group a few times but I don't believe he ever actually guided anyone while we were there...we probably weren't important enough for that...

@Mundo...yes, its on the sand sheet and we were told that we were not getting off the road 1. to protect habitat and 2. the quail rigs were 2 wheel drive F250s...a 2 wd F250 will have a hard enough time getting around in the sand, once you add the weight of the dog boxes, bench seats, hunters, etc...they had no choice but to stay on the roads; hell we even got stuck in sand ON the road at one point...seemed like a pretty cheap maneuver to skimp on purchasing 4wd trucks for that type of high dollar operation.

One of the guides told me that Ronnie wanted them to provide rigs. Don’t know how that worked out.
