If you have a slow hunt in a blind/stand location, do you move the next hunt or do you give it a couple more sits before you change locations?

I’m a “try it a couple times before I move” guy but I know others who will change stands the first time they have a slow hunt.

One buddy never sits in the same stand twice unless he is on a certain buck

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Depends on the situation. I had a draw hunt in October. I moved every sit until I got on where the deer were. Hunting out of a tree and no feeder.

On a feeder I’ll give it a couple of sits. If you’re a trail camera guy you gotta be careful not to chase spots just because a buck showed up once or twice on camera.

If rut is in swing it will probably pay to stay in one spot ish because odds of a buck being more mobile are in your favor if you’re not moving all over too.

Lots of variables. Mostly time of season, location and so on

I have 6 blind locations on the ranch, I sit in a different one each hunt, regardless of deer numbers. Did the same thing when I was low fence.

I play it by ear and gut, sometimes will move around, other times hunt same spot over and over. Deer are unpredictable and I try to be that way some too.

If I place a stand, I’ll stick with it mostly. There’s a reason for my preference of the location, even if it’s not looking like a “hot spot”.

I change blinds according to the wind. I also have morning and evening blinds according to success ratings over the past many years. But the last 3 years I got a buck while stalking to my blind in the late afternoon. I pass by a morning blind on the way to an evening blind and I stalk and glass slowly on the way in. 3 years ago I saw the buck heading from the first blind toward the second blind and got him in between, the next year I had seen one on cam moving from the second blind toward the first blind but he never showed up on cam at the first one so I figured he was going into a creek bed in between them so I snuck into the area and caught him entering the creek bed. This last season I was only half way to the first blind and busted one out of a bed right beside me, he stopped about 70 yards away and I took him. This in NE TX fairly heavy wooded with some small clearings...

I have 2 blinds and usually sit in one for an afternoon hunt and again the next morning and then move to the other blind and do the same. I’m fairly lazy (I say efficient haha) and don’t like to pack up and drag my stuff around for each sit.

I try to focus on an area for a few days !
Make an educated choice first, and stick with it.

I watch the deer every day and night so I know which blind will likely produce the best results. Sometimes they just don’t move at all for 12 or more hours so one sit isn’t telling someone much about their movement.

I go by gut and wind direction. Certainly feel like one of our blinds is a better morning blind the afternoon.

I remember my neighbor telling me years ago to watch your cows. He said if your cows are up and feeding so are the deer, if they are down, so are the deer.

I was never a fan of constantly changing blinds.

There’s no real rhyme or reason for when and where I sit. The only thing I can count on is being wrong about it.

I have enough cameras on the ranch that provides me a pretty good look into when and where the animals are moving. A cold front with north winds is usually what trips us up. All of my stands are set up for south winds. I have two box blinds and five double tripod stands. I'll be adding two more box blinds this spring. A couple of the stands have tripods for norths winds. Cameras really help us in regards to where to put hunters. We have two stands/feeders where you're dang near guaranteed to see deer each morning and evening. Seeing a shooter is the luck of the draw. The rut really makes it interesting as to what you'll see.

Distance is not the issue, but the winds can make it interesting!

I sit in my jeep or truck while hunting. And it is usually slowly moving.

Depends where hunting, big woods, E TX hardwoods or bottoms/clear cuts, or NW TX or W. TX. If E TX, Ark, LA and hunting ridge/scrape lines I'll hunt same location 3 days running and same if rut is on.
NW and SW TX I tend to change am and pm. But always hunt the wind in my favor

Depends on wind and what activity is like. I do prefer my ground blind because it’s a short distance from the house and gets good activity. Tower blind has great views and actually had more activity towards end of season which is abnormal. Thinking its neighbors who added a blind along a fence near ground blind. Hoping deer settle before next season so I can continue hunting the ground blind as well.

For me it depends on wind and sun. Most of my stands face west or east because the small property. And usually more a matter of overall weather and deer movement.

I hunt according to the wind, but I will concentrate on 1 stand if I have a target buck in an area as long as the wind is right.

I'm kind of like Stompy. 6 blind locations - deer tend to have travel patterns depending on where their movement is and if we are targeting a certain buck, we move randomly. Our feeders typically are 130 -150 yds out so wind doesn't play to much of a factor for us.

Depends, the longer the extra corn is there the better it gets

wind direction plays key in where I'm sitting if it shifts during the day. I will sit the same spot if the wind isn't changing tho.

I move around all the time just to keep it interesting.

Unless I am on one big buck that I know is in an area. Then, I've been known to do 10-20 sits straight there until I catch him slippin'.

I use a three day rule. I do differentiate between morning and evening hunts. If I sit in a stand for three evening, or morning, hunts and don't see what I'm looking for I will change up.

I have blinds and stands but prefer to still hunt the wind. I do sit some times but I am not very good at sitting still watching corn...
