I check out the prices @ our local HEB meat counter every time I go shopping and the prices blow my mind. Never thought that a London Broil (Top Round) would be considered a sale @ 6.99 per lb., but that`s the world we live in (FJB). It was less than 4 bucks a lb. when I got out of the business in 06. I was just discussing how ridiculous the price of beef has gotten with a friend of mine. We don`t eat much beef because I refuse to pay for any unless it is on sale for a good price. I buy as many briskets as I can each time they go on sale and make all of our hamburger meat and stew meat out of them. I refuse to buy hamburger meat from anywhere. You used to be able to buy chuck roast on sale now and then, but those days are far and few between. HEB had whole ribeye's on sale for 4.77 lb. last month and I almost bought one just to grind for HB meat.
