I had a hunt at my place last Saturday. 4 boys, with 4 guides, came from Operation Orphans. Later teen boys (one was 18) that, I gathered, have been through hell (CPS type stuff), living in group homes, etc. 2 were brothers. I'm not posting this for accolades or "ataboys." I'm posting for landowners, or lease managers, to consider it, if your place is within 1 hour of Mason. Now, I'm not gonna say their communications are great, 'cause they're not. But, considering what they do, I'm willing to cut them a little slack, which, as many that know me will attest, I'm not known for. If they contact me this year, I will let them come out again. I initially reached out to them, so now the ball's in their court. 4 does were down, cleanly, and no nubbin' bucks were killed in this event. Plus, one good axis buck in velvet was brought in, and one "gotaway" pig at least received a bullet in his carcass. These kids either haven't ever shot a rifle, or not much at all. Thanks to a friend on here with his suppressed .308 and 14X scope, we had all 4 of these kids hitting a 8" gong at 200yds. that afternoon. My son and afore mentioned friend helped run them all out to the blinds. I can't vouch for any future kids, but these 4 young men had more manners than many kids, with a parent in attendance, that I've had on my place. Maybe it has to do a little bit to them being older, or maybe, 'cause of what they've seen. I don't know. When the 18-year-old walked up to me and shook my hand and thanked me, like a man, I dam near lost it. I didn't take a lot of pictures because these kids have been through enough and I don't want any complications for them from posting something on social media. I figured the one "kid" you can recognize in this one picture wouldn't mind. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2025/01/full-40213-442392-boysranch.jpg) >>> Operation Orphans.org

Good on you, sir. Those boys are changed forever now.
If I ever retire, I'd like to look into something like this.

Awesome job sir!! And good job to anyone who helped out with this.
And this is a PSA and not directed at Creek as his pic is unidentifiable from what I can see.
I do want to point out that any time anyone takes pictures of a kid in the system, they need to make sure the picture is in no way identifiable. Even something as simple as a hunting picture can be found on the internet and be a way for an abusive parent to find the kid and do bad things. It can also be a way for a foster parent to be "turned in" to the system for dangerous activities and you would be surprised what a crazy parent or relative will do to get the kid back and say what you exposed them to was all kinds of wrong.
I am in no way diminishing the thing you did, at all....please don't think that. You did something really good here. Just gotta be uber careful with the pics.
