End of general season for most of the state ends Sunday.

Anyone making a last hoorah?

I thought about going out, but just am not that motivated. I need to go up to the place and winterize some stuff, but can’t say I will sit in the stand. May just piddle in the barn.

Finished the WT season with 3 does. Saw some nice bucks on a few sits, saw one that was real tempting but wanted to get my son on one and passed him up. Son did end up seeing him was too afraid to take the shot.

Got busy with other obligations and didn’t get to sit but a time or two after that, but to be honest, wasn’t that anxious to get after them.

I’m finding out I enjoy prepping for the season more than the actual season

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Got a couple youth hunts still, and then off to NM to hunt for 10 days in Feb. I doubt I punch a WT tag unless I see something crippled I can’t get a kid on

I’m done for the year too
Hunting buddy has one more doe tag to fill, so I may go out one more time with him just to watch and do some winterizing.

Still got until the end of January to find a sandhills mule deer, but haven't had much luck so far. Still have some whitetail does to cull at my buddy's place through February, and all the hogs we can kill. I don't have any other hobbies really.

Be out this weekend for Custer's last stand; if see a big mature one, great. If not, was a nice interesting ride this season and think about strategizing for next. Will be a long 10 months until next season.

Going to give it a few more tries on a messed up rack buck I have had on camera.
After the end of the general season, I will go to work trying to fill some MLD antlerless tags.

'Couple more hunts to host next week. I've got to the end of February. My son may sit and try to find a decent buck. There isn't a really dumb, good buck hanging around like in years past. One might have decided to be dumb on someone else's property. frown 'Heard a few shots in the distance late this afternoon.

You “enjoy prepping for the season more than than the actual season”. I thought I was the only one that would ever utter that statement.
It’s almost like I want the season to end so I can start on next season.

To answer your question, no, im not done. I will probably end up hunting the last 18 days of the season.

We’re done, we took some outstanding deer this year but the choppers coming up in a few weeks so it’s pig bashing time now.

I'm just getting started. First real cold front gets here next week and my trapline goes out. F&T Post just programmed a newer FoxPro and it's headed my way. As for deer my freezer is full.

Wife and are headed out after my Dr appt tomorrow morning. I already got a decent 10 and she got a doe a few weeks ago but she wants this tall 8 that’s been on camera. Shame that the cold weather is coming in a week too late.

2 more months for us. Would like to get a few more doe and catch up with one of our old bucks. We’ve got a 9.5 year old running around that needed to die 5 years ago. Was a management buck then but once a buck gets to be the oldest on the ranch they are a trophy regardless of score.

Get a muzzleloader and extend your season by two weeks every year.

I see some of my best bucks (survivors) that time of year.

For the most part folks around here are done hunting after thanksgiving. A few die hards hunt around Christmas, but after that....almost no hunting pressure and the bucks are keying in on food sources to try to put on some weight lost during the rut.

Typically I will see bucks starting to form bachelor groups again. So odds are....I will see several bucks at a time.

Two does in the freezer. I have no need of another deer but will still be chasing chachalaca in the RGV.

Donated my mature buck, picking up my doe this weekend. Hogs and coyotes, never done. Hitting them hard this weekend.

I filled feeder yesterday and pulled SD card. No daytime pictures of any hogs the past month. Lots of Turkeys, but Toms show up about once every 2 weeks. Still seeing lots of slick heads and bucks are 3 or 4 at a time at the feeder. Probably go and sit at least one more time since it`s gonna get cold and see what moves. Filled my buck tag on 11-19 and been wanting to kill something with my 22-250 ever since but nothing is cooperating.

Done, never had the deer size that we saw last year. Cameras show the same does and small bucks that we see during our sits. Got a nice doe. Will back on out and see what next year brings.

You have to remember, they might not be drinking as much as we are.

I'm done, got a nice buck Thanksgiving eve. Still have one really nice buck on camera, hopefully he stays around for next year!
