My IRAY is on my 22 Hornet and I also run a silencer. It’s a Thompson Encore with a bull barrel from Match Grade Machine. It’s not super heavy but it’s a short little chunk of a rig. Watching the hit has me spoiled compared to my heavier recoiling set ups. I know instantly if it’s a good hit.

Gotta luv the small stuff, especially the sub calibers, 17, 19, and 20. One can see hit.

As an aside, over the years I've shot any number of cartridges that have a muzzle velocity over 3,000 FPS. It has been my experience in the past, when shooting un-suppressed that one never hears the impact on flesh when taking game at say 100 yds. or less. Stretch it out toward 200 yds, then it is not uncommon.

When employing thermal, suppressed, my main rifle is a Sig Cross in 308 Win using 150 Gr. Norma Soft Point factory ammo. I shoot any where from say 50 yds to 160 yds at critters such as fox, coyote, coons and hogs. These days, suppressed, I always hear the "whop" when impacting flesh vs. the "whack" when I miss.

Thermal suppressed is a game-changer where I hunt.

ya,

GWB
