Been looking at the bog pod death grip since it really is the cheapest. I was at cabelas the other day and they had several competitors and different variations sitting out to look at and play with. The primos jim shcokey was super light and much smaller but also looked much cheaper over all. They do actually make one with a rifle clamp now and stronger legs. Same price as the bog pod.
The carbon fiber bog pod wasnt that much lighter overall so it didnt seem like the extra 100 or so dollars was worth it. 5lbs vs 10lbs. Not s big deal for me. Is the heavier one more stable??
Trying to keep the cost down so not interested in the more expensive ones like fatboy or kofjaeger.
What experience do you guys have with the tripods and recommendations? upgrades that should be done to the death grip? etc?
I am thinking it is a great tool to use for accuracy/stability in a blind? Is that true? what is yall's experience using it in a blind type situation?
thanks Big

Have the bog pod, honestly it’s better in the blind than carrying it around. I have trigger sticks I hike with. Bog pod is great if you are setup in one spot.

Takes up way too much room in the blind and I hunt in a 5x7. Trigger stick I have is great for walking/stalking. But I use an Amazon CF tripod and Reaper rest on top.

The aluminum one is more stable because of the weight. Make sure you get the Infinite, the ball is worth the every cent. I have plenty of room in a 5X7 for mine and another person because the legs are telescoped in for the correct window height. I have a trigger stick and there's no comparison. The Bog Deathgrip Infinite holds my rifle up ready to shoot the whole time. https://www.boghunt.com/pods/deathg...tBh3kzBd8EAMYASAAEgL1qvD_BwE&start=1

The Primos Trigger Sticks are light and very cool to use, but are not wet weather friendly, or they used to not be. However, the self deploying legs at the press of a button is just handy fricking dandy. I fabricated a sling for mine and carried them on my back until ready to use and would just whip it off, deploy the legs and put the rifle in the yoke and be ready to shoot. These are probably best for a lot of stalking. I have a Fatboy ball head on some carbon fiber no name sticks that works great, but I leave the legs at the extended use length and never move them. Fatboy is really cool kit, but really freaking expensive. Probably best for stands, or carrying around with the legs deployed. You can leave your rifle mounted on the tripod and carry the duo together. Aside from Trigger Sticks with their deployment mechanism, pretty much everything else is a fairly slow deploy of the legs, so you leave them out. Sort of between the two is my Manbily ball head and tripod combo. I have this model. https://shop.manbily.com/products/manbily-wz-324pa-tripod?VariantsId=10166 I have been using it for a couple of months now. Legs are slow to deploy so you leave them out and you can carry your rifle locked in the stick. Like the Faboy, probably best for stands more so than stalking, but I stalk with the legs deployed. I don't worry about unlevel ground and just adjust the position of the ball head (same with Fatboy). Both the Fatboy and Manbily will access picatinny rails or Arca Swiss rails. I have gone with Arca Swiss rails simply because they are much easier to use in the dark than picatinny rails.

OK good!!! what I like to hear is that it works well in your stand. I will stick with the primos monpod for stalking. It is light and acts a s a great walking stick. Trying to get in to some predator night hunts so we will be calling and stationery most likely.
Thanks for the info guys!!!

I have a death grip and like it, but don't use it it the stand. For long shots in the blind I use a bull bag, but I have shelves at my windows to sit it on.

Death grip is great, we have had numerous kids lock in rifles including my nephew you met years ago, and all make perfect shots that may not have been perfect off a window sill. Would highly recommend, especially walking pastures or off your patio on the 687
