I realize I am going to probably take some heat from the purists over the question I'm fixin' to ask, but I would like some opinions about this: shower or no shower?

I am in the planning stages of building out an enclosed trailer into a hunting rig, I'm coming up on my late 50's and sleeping in a tent on the ground is not my idea of fun anymore, so I wanted to construct myself something a little more comfortable. My question is this: Should I build a shower into my trailer or not? It is going to be a 7x14 or 7x16 trailer, haven't quite decided on that yet, and it is going to have a lot of nice amenities to make life a lot more comfortable out in the field. Your opinions on this would be great and I look forward to your inputs.

If there’s room, then yes on the shower.

No, but that's a personal preference. I've done it all for lease lodging, travel trailer, small buildings I bult myself, cargo trailer for my Ranger and sleeping for myself and now a conex with a bunk room on one end, the balance a garage for the Ranger. All I need is a warm, dry, clean contained space to sleep, change clothes and store my gear. A shower takes a very simple build to a kinda' complex project. If you really need to wash up, heat some water on a burner, get a hand towel and get after it.

Maybe set it up for an outdoor shower? Limits options on cold days, but when it's cold I don't need showers as frequently.

True Sir, it would add some complexity, however I like the heating water and scrub idea.

I've thought about that, but as you mention the cold days thing may turn me away from doing that.

There are all kinds of options for portable/temporary free standing tent type of showers. Myself, during deer season when it's mostly cold, I don't need a shower. If you go the cargo trailer route reach out, I have some info for you on insulation.

Yes- Inside or outside.

There are dozens of overland outdoor swing out options to attach to outside. Also dozens of of hot water options. Both can be a huge rabbit hole, depending on what you want to spend

You can get along without any indoor plumbing until you bring a female along. Then all bets are off.

Dude wipes work wonders. I’ve hunted/slept in a 8x16 cargo trailer for 10 years now. Rarely do I ever think I needed a shower, and it’s mostly during the summer. I’ll wet a rag and take a hobo bath then use some dude wipes. I think if I wanted a real shower I’d get the outdoor tent setup.

I have a camper at both my hunting leases without running water. If I am doing an extended stay and need a shower, I have a 12 volt shower wands that runs off a 12 volt accessory plug and a big metal pot or bucket stored in each camper. The lease where I have electric, I also have a 110 to 12v accessory plug adapter. I heat up a big pot or bucket of water either on a stove, hot plate, bucket heater, whatever I have available at the moment. I plug the 12v camp shower pump in where I can stand outside my camper door or truck to take a shower. Drop the pickup tube into the bucket of pre heated water. And take a quick shower. Note I also have a 12v accessory plug to alligator clip adapter and have run it off a spare feeder battery before. A quick very hot water shower in the outside cold is not that bad. There are dozens of versions of those camp shower pumps on amazon, ebay, temu in the $25 to $50 range. I have two I sniped off ebay for about 15 bucks that have lasted over 5 years, but they are seldom used. I doubt one would last long with heavy use.

outdoor shower's work just fine we take a enclosed trailer to Colorado elk hunting and have a shower tent . We use to stay in a cabin in Wyoming it also had a 6x6 building for outdoor shower, that one was interesting it was gravity feed. other hunters would heat water and dump in water a container from outside.

Friend has something similar for his 16' trailer. Sink in cabinet, water tank on centerline, and water heater/pump under sink in left front corner, six foot coiled hose for outdoor shower that is used for the sink and goes thru a small door.
