I have a chance to hunt an aoudad but the LO will not allow me to clean on site, what are my options for a legal carcass disposal?

I believe I would hunt elsewhere. I’m a land owner and can assure you that the guts, etc don’t last long.

You all must have CWD around in your area? here in central texas, the local TPWD bio is a MUST to bury
all remains of deer carcass 3ft deep and packed soil when finished! the fear of the CWD spreading?

That wont happen in the hill country, with granite country is solid rock in some properties!

I hate to say this, been discussed before, the CWD has been around for decades and we are just now
getting into this stuff!!!

Take it home and put the parts in the trash, that is legal.

Proper disposal of carcass parts from white-tailed deer and mule deer is an important management action for reducing the risk of unintentional transmission of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) to susceptible wildlife from CWD-positive areas to areas where the disease is not yet known to exist.

The preferred method is to leave unused carcass parts at the property of harvest, as this greatly reduces the chance of spreading CWD to other parts of the state. Hunters are allowed to debone a carcass at the property of harvest, provided that:

Meat is processed no further than whole muscles and may not be ground, chopped, or sliced.
Meat from multiple deer must remain in separate bags or containers while transported.
Proof of sex and tagging requirements remain with the meat until reaching a final destination.
Carcass disposal requirements will apply if the carcass is transported away from the property of harvest and unused parts must be:

Disposed of in a commercial trash service, or
Returned to the property where the animal was harvested, or
Buried at least three feet below the ground and covered with at least three feet of earthen material.
Harvested deer or deer heads may be taken to a commercial processor or taxidermist and the processor or taxidermist must properly dispose of unused parts.

Download the carcass disposal flyer. (PDF)

What species does this regulation apply to?
Carcass disposal requirements only apply to Texas’ native deer: white-tailed deer and mule deer. Exotic deer species such as elk, red deer and sika are susceptible to CWD, though, so although not required, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department recommends practicing these same carcass disposal measures for exotic deer species as well.

Take some trash bags, the large heavy duty kind, and put field dressed internal parts in that & seal up tight. Skin, cape & quarter, then put meat in large ice chest with ice. Head & cape into another trash bag and into another ice chest with ice. about the only thing I can think of under the circumstances.

I shoot hogs and drag them out of my whitetail hunting area, in 4-5 days you'll have a hard time of finding a few hairs and maybe a spot on the ground where the shredding occurred.

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

That is the first time that I have ever heard of that in my life. I'd start looking for another place. No telling what
crazy rules he will come up with next year.

Define clean on site? Won’t let you leave a gut pile and parts or won’t let you do it at all? Taking parts isn’t a big deal. Having to gut it somewhere else is getting iffy if you don’t live close by. You’re going to get some attention if you pull over and gut/quarter on side of road etc.

Hunted on a place almost 30 years ago that we had to take everything with us. We could gut/quarter on property but had to take them with us because the landowners dog would roll in / drag guts back to their house.

I’ve had some disappear in a few days and others over a month or longer.

Cut pigs open when you dump them. Speeds up the process a lot.

Same for us, sometimes I’ve dumped a 200 plus pound boar in the bone yard that is gone the next morning like you loaded it on the truck and drove off. Other times they lay there and stink for a while.

That's the easiest too, at least for me. Guts & hide on the ground and they are gone by the next morning at the latest. Quarters & head on ice until I get home. Head gets picked up with Ft Worth trash service.

Zero firsthand knowledge, but I've heard "questionable" is being generous. Jack rabbit's in the same category.

Just chuck my waste in the swamp - turtles and crawdads love it. If I want to shoot some yotes i stake to the ground and wait. Guess if i lived in town i would freeze it and then put in my regular garbage at the curb over a few weeks.
