Well, had a great time. My buddy was an Eagle Scout and still carried the camping "gene". My excuse for always wanting to stay in a hotel cuz I needed electricity to power my CPAP machine. So, he put together a wild, solar powered system. I dint think he would actually do it cuz he's the king of nrigging. IT WORKED! so there went that excuse. He has a perfectly good canvas walled, outfitter tent.. but NO, he wants to travel light and brought this funky "tepee" looking tent. Telling me there was plenty of room.

well we got it set up along with a chit and shower tent. My cot was huge and barely fit inside. The part of the ranch we camped it was a low area. It was damp and condensation formed on the outside, then on the INSIDE. I got a dammed chill and just froze my azz off for two nights. When you got up you would rub and get wet. Anyway that suked !!!

Next time he said he would bring the BIG straight walled tent..........we'll see if I want to try it. We cooked two great meals and a great breakfast. I had my trusty percolator, so I could enjoy my coffee.

The hunting was good. Since I'm a guest, I can only shoot deer which are on the "guest menu" This year there were two Really nice 10 points, two freaky antlered bucks, does and pigs. I saw both 10 pointers, but they were on the move behind the feeder in the picture and there was no way I could make a positive ID and set up for a shot in time. Saw a ton of deer, didn't shoot anything. No big deal

I leave Thursday for my daughter and my hunt near Chillicothe. Weather looks a little warm but hopefully the bucks will be chasing. This week near Windthorst (Archer County) The does were just starting to act "on edge" like they knew it was almost "time". The rut should begin soon in my part of Northeast Texas

Colorado tent company makes a nice canvas tent that is very portable. Nylon is light but really sucks for the reasons you have described.

Good luck on your hunt next week

Still only ads on this end. That’s ok, I know what a tent looks like!
