Major storm is shaping up for Colorado and NM. today into Friday through the weekend.
Heavy snow in SE Colorado and NE NM.
You all will have travel issues if coming up to hunt in Colorado or maybe NM.
They are talking 2 feet of snow for Southern Colorado.
Another storm for Monday also so be ready for travel issues.

They are not talking about bitter cold but lots of snow.

Travel safe folks and good luck !
3 rd rifle in Colorado might just be very interesting for any of you with tags.

Been watching it, I need to go chase cats in NM.

Think TT is headed to Idaho this week. Drive safe TT. Chains and a few blankets smile

All roads out of Clayton have been closed since yesterday morning and the snow is starting to pile up again. Luckily, it warms quickly after the storm passes. I would imagine all major thoroughfares will be cleared by end of Saturday. Sure is good to get some fall moisture!

I was wondering that, best way to book a cat hunt is being on call.

Storm is hitting us now, snow is already accumulating.
Spouse's elk hunt with a youth in the morning may be pretty Western.

Colorado has lots of closed roads right now and trailer restrictions on I-70, no trailers.

Looking like the storm is in the north eastern part of NM and SE Colorado.

Well we got about 2 inches of wet snow.
I-80 is closed though.
Looks like Colorado has limited openings on their roads, maybe I-25 now, I-70 is still closed.

Hope everyone has safe travels when the roads open up. Take it cautiously as there will still be slick spots.

Spouse left the house at 5 this morning in decent conditions but looks like, if radar is accurate, he's had snow showers all day.
Hope he can find an elk for the kid, and himself if possible.
They do have a nice house to warm up in at the home side of the property.
No cell service up there except on the high ridges so I may get an update or not.

The year I spent driving a truck, I spent a bunch of time in Nebraska picking up meat loads. It was amazing to see car and truck parts in the median and off the shoulder of the road along with tracks, after a snow storm, and in other places where they got pulled out after running off of the road. It ain't cheap to get a loaded 18 wheeler pulled out of the ditch or median.

I'm here in NW Colorado now. We were supposed to leave Thursday and get to Trinidad and then drive the rest of the way to Yampa on Friday. Ended up staying at my brothers Thursday night and then left Friday morning. Decided we needed to head west before going north. Went to Clovis and stopped for fuel and talked to a few locals. Said we should be ok to go to 285 and head north......3.8 miles from Clines Corner we sat there inching forward. 1 hr and 40 minutes later we finally get to I-40. West bound was open so we went to Moriarty and took 41 north to Sante Fe for the night. Left yesterday morning and fought snow/ice and slick roads pretty much the whole way to Yampa. About to head out and see what we can find. Around 10-12 inches of snow where we are at but the paved roads have been plowed.
