Good buck. Congrats. Has he killed several before? Hope he enjoys it. I keep hearing how so many kids have other things they enjoy more. Im always pleased when parents encourage their kids to hunt

At some point in life its time to quit chasing the pot of gold and just enjoy the rainbow. FR

This is his 5th hunting season. He's 13. He's shot 1-2 deer a year annually and some javalinas. This one is the biggest by far. but he's shot a couple others that were nice deer too. He has a twin brother who is a little better about getting up and getting going in the morning and so because of that his brother has tended to end up with some of the better bucks. Benjamin got up and got going Saturday morning though and it paid off. He was pretty excited, as he should be. heck i was pretty excited.

was cool too. I've never had a deer mounted before...but this one to me at least just seemed like such a dark horned sort of iconic looking south Texas buck i sorta figured why not. so we took it to a local taxidermist closer to home. there were a handful of deer being dropped off. we process all our own deer so boys have never been to a meat locker or anything. they got to look at what all was getting dropped off and what all was in the cooler. when Benjamin walked up with his horn/cape man he had all their attention. he got to tell his hunting story. I don't know who any of them were, but much appreciated to some other local hunters who listened to him and celebrated it with him.

You seem to be blessed to have a situation where you can have multiple kids kill multiple deer every year and apparently with other family as well. Im not jealous cause Ive been there done that. And not saying you aren’t aware but I like to remind folks when things are going good. Some are so busy chasing the pot of gold that they miss the rainbow(BEEN THERE DONE THAT ALSO).
Now go find a cape and mount that other boys favorite deer too. smile
