Last year, one of my feeders plugged and wouldn’t throw corn, which I found out after I filled it. How wonderful (note the sarcasm). After a while, maybe a week, the crud plugging it gave up and the feeder was throwing corn just fine. A happy surprise. Well, here it is this year. Did I look to see if there was a plug at the bottom? Of course not. I just filled it and found it was plugged. Ah, Man! I had a 5’ piece if thin rebar, which fit through the corn just fine, so I jabbed it down into the bottom of the feeder. After a few unsuccessful test runs, I struck corn. Yay me…

I wonder if I’ll forget to look next year. I don’t use this feeder year round.

You have to get rid of all the mold in the feeder. If you still have the corn sacks, use them and remove the 3/4 of the corn from the feeder.
The last 1/4 of corn just dump out. Get in the feeder and remove all the mold. Once finished, add the sacks of corn back into the feeder.

Recently had a 55gal protein feeder so jammed up put a tarp down and laid the feeder over on it and emptied it. Cleaned out the bad stuff, set the barrel back up, and used a bucket to scoop the protein back up.

I have a dedicated piece of wire hanging on the feeder that I use to dislodge clogs from the outside.

When it uses up this load of corn, I’ll take my little but powerful shop vac and my generator and clean it as well as I can, then flush with a little diesel.
