After 12 years of hunting my property in Camp county, I finally got to punch a tag for an over 13” spread buck. I passed on several over the years. This guy walked out opening day about 930.

Shot him about a 120 yards. He was quartering to me. Bullet landed on the shoulder and exited off side ribs. He ran towards me about 20 yards and went down. Used a suppressed 308 with a 120 TAC-TX @ 3000 fps.

Bullet missed the heart but shredded both lungs and exited.

Curious on a ballpark score from the THF experts on this deer. His outside spread is 18” if that helps. I know he’s not going to score very high but I like his character.

I also could use a taxidermist recommendation. I’ll be picking up the cape from the meat processor in Mt Pleasant so anyone between there and around Colin County.

He’s not going to score much but a great mount for the wall.
I don’t believe score should be the mark to a trophy deer. If it is unique and you like it then shoot it.

Agree with above. He’s unique and probably old. Im not sure I would score him.

yeah a score on a buck like this would be difficult at best - as stated above he is a very unique deer that would be cool for anyone who shot him - will make a great mount and a great discussion when folks see him - congrats!

I love the THF people. I appreciate the kind words. Let’s forget the score and just let me know if you have a recommendation on Taxidermist somewhere between Mount Pleasant and Colllin County. I saw there is Deer Feathers Taxidermy in Winnsboro. I wish a knew that Saturday, I could have dropped the deer off there as they also process deer.

I used Erik's Taxidermy in Decatur...he did a great job on a deer and fallow for me.

Very unusual trophy and always that extra great feeling that it came off your own land. Congratulations!
