Daughter Friday morning:

Opening morning youth hunt with my daughter. After falling asleep in the blind early, she was able to harvest her FIRST deer. She has been practicing all year and was able to get her goal accomplished this morning. Last year she was not able to pull the trigger. Very proud of her and her smile says it all.

My Son (6th youth season) Sunday evening:

Well youth season ended with a bang in the final 30 minutes on Sunday. My son hunted HARD all day seeing nothing (my son feeling a little dejected as he hunted hard Friday as well. It was WAY too hot in the afternoon. The last 30 minutes we had 4 mature doe come in. He made a perfect shot on one, re-racked the .270 and was able to take an ethical shot on a second doe (neither making it 30 yards). Completely unexpected and a phenomenal close to youth weekend with his sister getting her first deer and himself doubling with minutes left.

They are growing up and I cherish sharing a blind with them.

looks like a dang good time in the stand and some nice early season meat to eat on thru the rest of the season!
