I have made several feeders recently where I installed the Wildgame innovations poly funnel. It always goes in and seats in the bottom of the barrel as it should. This week I’ve been building a new feeder and when I get to the bottom corrugation in the barrel about 6 inches from the bottom, the funnel begins to turn and won’t seat flush with the bottom over the hole. My guess is that the barrel isn’t perfectly round down there and that is what is causing the issue. I’m curious if anybody else has experienced this and if there are any suggestions on how to get the funnel to fit properly.

Thanks,
Keith

Sure have, couple of times. Standing on them inside the barrel helps a lot. They never fit totally flush but getting them pushed down as much as possible helps tremendously. Just make sure the motor and thrower are unattached when doing inside barrel on it, lol...

I did get inside the barrel yesterday and try to do what you’re suggesting. It didn’t work too well, but I may try it again this evening. Thx.

I did some trimming and shaving. Was a pain to do but finally after about 45 minutes it fit.

That’s why I went with the adjustable metal funnels.

Perhaps that’s the easiest answer. It appears that you use self tapping screws to screw the overlap together. Does it then just sit on the bottom of the barrel or do you secure it in some way?

It has, I believe, 3 tabs you screw into the barrel side.

Thx! I'm going to give it a try!

TExas hunter products used to sell the inner funnel for barrel feeders and those fit pretty good for
us, had these few years ago, they were snug and once in, didnt want to move them again!

Think just put in couple riviet at every 180deg, seemed to work fine for us, alot of plastic funnels
vary alot from different makers! check your size prior to buying.

you might try this, fit the funnel in as far as you can and as straight as possible. Get a fence post or something comparable in size and use the post to drive it in. You may have a gap around the top which you can fill in with caulk or may just force some paper (feed sack) around the circumference. It worked for me

Thanks for all the advice. I ended up going with the metal funnel. I had to make it a little smaller by increasing the overlap, but it worked. I put silicon around the top of the funnel, and it seemed to work well. Not sure how well that silicon will hold up over time, but I'm guessing it will be fine. Thanks again.
