I have done that a few times. Following all the blood trails is as chaotic as the massacre itself. Even had one I shot crash into my ground blind several years ago.

I always take an extra arrow or two just for pigs. We have killed 6 so far this deer season and they seem to go away after the first couple die

Many times with a sounder I can get a shot off from my xbow, reload and shoot another. By that second shot, the sounder is gone.

I have only seen two pigs so far this season (only one during daylight). Fully expected to see them every hunt but kinda glad since broadheads and arrows are too dang expensive

.22 pistol ammo is cheaper than cheap bolts. Pigs have really multiplied at our place and we shoot them on sight every day we are there

That really is a tough situation. Shoot them and the deer don't come. 22 pistol won't stop one coming at you. Use a large cal SA pistol and come back next day with the bow?

The rocks worked pretty well. I only had one other run in with pigs at that set up the rest of the week. Few days later I was walking to my stand about an hour before sun rise and in the moon light I could see a very large boar at one of my feeders I was going to hunt. I started walking towards him and got to about the 30 yard mark before I realized how big he really was. I drew my pistol but didnt want to shoot him so I started running and stomping the ground as loud as I could as I ran towards him. He must have thought Godzilla was after him because he dang near knocked my feeder over trying to get away. He is probably still running because I didnt see him again.

I used to leave two arrows tipped with thumpers in my bow stand to keep goats away. And for an occasional bunny for lunch.
