My grandson got his first shot at a deer with his bow and got a doe.
He has practically given up rifle hunting, he started that last year.

Congrats, bow hunting is an exciting way to hunt and though I do hunt with archery I also hunt with Firearms during the season for them as well.

He’s taken quite a few deer with a rifle, but all he wants to do is bow hunt now, I bow hunted only for a lot of years, until I was not a good shot anymore.

Way to go.

I had little interest in bow hunting as a kid and mainly used it as a way to start early, then switched to a rifle as soon as I could.

For the past 13 years I’ve been bow only with few exceptions

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Some just love it and bowhunting will make one a better hunter IMO. See a deer at 100 yards with the rifle it is over, with a bow how do I get closer or get the deer to come to me.

More of a challenge but to get close to whitetails consistently other than just hunting a feeder or heavy corned area is more work than many really want to do at least well enough to be consistently good at it.

That’s why I loved to bow hunt, it will make a hunter out of you.

Congrats to him. Getting closer to animals has really been the drive to keep hunting big game for me. Hope he continues.to pursue that passion.
