I know this is probably a simple question for yall, but for me I seem to always mess it up. Right now my feeders are going off at 7am and 5pm. If I don't change the CLOCK on the feeder, starting November 3rd would the morning feeder go off at "8am" or "6am"?

6am. Mine are set for 7:45am and 5pm. After time change they'll be 6:45am and 4pm..perfect for me.

I never change the time on my feeder clocks, always daylight savings time. I just adjust the feed times. About Thanksgiving I'll have to move the morning time to 7am (8am on my timer), because it'll be too dark at 6:45am..at that time.

Thanks guys! Going out this weekend for youth weekend and I hope to be back a time or two before Nov, but I know we have a pretty busy next few weeks so wanted to verify what time feeders would be going off in case I don't make it back for some reason.

Your feeder timer has no idea of standard vs daylight saving time.

If you are like most every other hunter that uses feeders, you set them to go off probably right at daylight or a little after and maybe an hour before sunset. The sun comes up every day and goes down every day- the only thing that changes when we change our clocks is the manmade time of day. Granted, as we get farther into late fall/winter, the length of day shortens so you may have to adjust the time it goes off in the afternoon....or set it for 4:30 in the afternoon and forget about it.

Neither do the deer.

Just make sure the deer you are hunting move their clocks back also otherwise you're not going to see a darn thing.

What I often do is leave my feeder on standard time year round. Late summer I pull up a sunset sunrise calendar on my phone for the next November and set my morning and evening feed time as if it were a mid Nov day and be done with it. K.I.S.S.

I leave mine alone year around, about 7:00-7:30 am and 5:00-5:30 pm on standard time ... or just after daylight and about an hour before end of shooting light during season.

You need to set your feed times back and your clock as well one hour. If you don’t your deer will be early, you’ll be late and nobody got time for that.

Serious answer: Relative to the only thing that matters, the same time.

Biggest argument my dad and I ever got into, was over this very topic. And of course he was right. I do the same as others here have mentioned... I set my feeders to go off on sunrise/sunset rather than a specific time. Mornings, I try to keep it to where they go off approximately 30 minutes before sunrise. If you do it this way, it won't matter what "time" it is. It will always go off at the same time of day. I never adjust the time, only bump the timer 5-10 minutes every couple weeks to account for the shorter days.

This discussion always makes me think of the lease I was on just 1 year and one of the older, other guys was always roaring on his ATV to his feeder, adjusting his feeder timer, filling it, etc. He was shocked that I was seeing bucks at my set.

I topped mine off last week. I won't have to go into my kill zone until the first week of December.

The first year I didn't align my timer to actual time, I screwed up the settings. I'd like to blame it on the dark water but truth is...math is hard. I just change my feeder time to match real time and it's way less confusing and you can change times while not having to think what time is it versus what time is it.

Last year I don't think my neighbor's "manager" entiende el cambio de hora too good. In the morning, about when by butt hit the chair in my blind, I could hear 2 or 3 of his feeders (they're close to my fence and close to each other) going off...in the dark. Getting 'em all fattened up before they come over to my place at dawn.

some people like to have the feeders go off in the morning before shooting light, so there are animals at the feeder when it gets light enough to shoot. My thoughts are I would rather it go off when I can see what is coming in to it by a little bit. I'd hate to have that 14 & 1/2 point (way my dad used to describe a really big one) hit it completely dark and wander off before I could see it ... but that's just me

this also reminds me of the very first automatic feeder I ever saw that had a light sensor on it, when it got to a certain point of daylight, it went off and then again in like 8 hours. We also found that if headlights or a flashlight hit the sensor on the way to the stand, it would trip the feeder way too early and then mid afternoon instead of how it was programmed to run.

Just note that your feeder will be going off an hour later according to your watch or phone and you'll be fine. You can adjust the clock in your feeder to match your watch later when the decreasing period of sunlight warrants it.

What's most important is that you change the alarm time on your phone the night before Sunday, November 3rd to one hour earlier because obviously the sun doesn't fall back even though your phone automatically adjusts its clock. And be sure to be extra quiet when getting ready that morning and not wake your buddies who forgot so they wake up just in time to see early daybreak while standing in their underwear.

^^ 'Been a while since I heard a changing a deer camp "buddy's" alarm clock, so he gets up, races out, and gets in his blind at 3am. Somebody on here did that.

His hunting area had plenty of time to settle back down, but it's a shame he past the morning feeding

No time to chime in more right now but this sums it up.

Currently my feeders go off at 7:15AM and 5:00PM. A few weeks or a month or so into deer season when I want it to go off later in the morning say 15 minutes because it's going off in the dark, you think I'm going to set the clock back an hour then set feed time to 0630? No.

The best timer I ever had was made by Kenco. It would feed a half hour after sunrise and again 1 hour before sunset.Would self adjust to shortening or lengthening days. Used that one for many years. The manufacturer sold out to some big company who chineesed the design to death. Buddy bought one and it was a pure POS.
