is very simple. I'll eat good but with all the fun and different things to do there compared to home I don't like to spend any time in the kitchen cabin cooking. I make breakfast burritos and sausage/egg/cheese biscuits at home and take them with me. The burritos, 30 seconds in the microwave then about two minutes on the blackstone and I'm having breakfast. Lunch is deli stuff for a sandwich. Dinner, that's different. I have a Webber Charcoal grill, two burner camp stove, a crock pot, electric griddle, a blackstone flat top and an open fire pit with a grate if I want to cook over mesquite coals. Start a roast around noon in the crockpot and we got roast, potatoes and carrots when we come in. A filet or fish on the grill is great and easy and I've become a fan of the mashed potatoes that are ready to go after a spin in the microwave. Squash or asparagus along the steak, easy peasy. Cook stew at home and it's ready to go pretty fast after the evening hunt. The best meals for me at the lease are after Thanksgiving. We take left overs from the big Thanksgiving dinner we cook here and eat great for a couple of days at the lease.

I used to hunt with guys that spent more time cooking there than they did hunting. I liked them a lot, they were good at it.

tradition we created a number of years ago, nice steaks on the fire pit with a side of mashed potatoes and something green (beans, spinach, etc.). We'll take various breakfast stuff that the wife will fix each morning, sandwich stuff & link sausage wraps for lunch. will have an assortment of other things available for various other meals and snacks.

I always bring steaks for my crew. Been doing it for over 20 years now. We've been adding more land and we're up to 14 people now, plus a couple of wives, so I'll have a whole cooler full when I roll up to camp.

There will be about 12 of us out there on Friday before the opener. We will have 3 BBQ pits going with chicken, ribs and sausage. We will have prepared pinto beans, potato salad and coleslaw with pickles/onions/bread. Breakfast will be campfire tortillas with eggs/bacon/sausage/cheese tacos. Saturday evening will be a big shrimp boil. Too much food to eat it all. Oh.... lots of cold beer and mixed drinks.

Probably just me opening weekend this year. That means big fat tomahawk steak on the fire with no sides and bourbon.

Shoot. Eat. Repeat.

I'll be sitting by the smoker Friday night and Sat morning cooking a Brisket. We set up a feeder on the other side of the pond that I can see from the smoker, so that's where I will be hunting from on Saturday morning. banana2
I've got all the time I want to hunt all year long. Some of the guys that I invite to hunt opening morning get to hunt 1 or 2 weekends a year. I'll be enjoying the (hopefully) cool morning with my cup of coffee, feeding wood to the smoker, and I may even get to shoot a doe. We're almost out of last year's meat, so that would be good.

Most likely a party of one at my place. If I fix the grill, I'll thaw out a 22oz chuck steak and cook it. Probably canned green beans for the side. Hit Starmart up for a couple of jalapeno/cheddar wraps for breakfast, or their carnitas are also very good.

Yup that’s it.

Boneless stuffed chickens and pork loins. Super easy on the Traeger. Big pot of rice dressing will last a couple days.

I’m not sure what’s on the menu yet, but one thing is for sure, I don’t skimp at deer camp on food. Prime filets, potatoes and onions, Boudin, homemade bacon, stuffed thick cut pork chops, etc.. I try to watch what I eat when I’m at home, but all bets are off at deer camp! 😂
