Tell me....what days do you take off leading up to the opener? I'll work on Thursday, come home and pack up the truck and leave to the ranch early Friday morning, staying till noon on Sunday. We will have 7 hunters with some of their family at the ranch having a good time with food, beer and party time!

I use to take off every Friday before deer season, it was a national holiday for me, I would come back Sunday most years. That was the good ole days.

Since I'm retired I'll be at the ranch sometime Friday morning and come home when I get ready. Just got back home from there. When our home here in Texas City sells wifey and I will be moving there permanently.

We normally go up Friday and come back Sunday. We live relatively close to the place so a prep day before season isn’t really necessary. I’ll get up there a few hours early before everyone else to tidy up a bit but that’s it.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Everything that needs to be done will be done next week. Friday morning and come back Monday, or Sunday if wife scores. Election Day is that Tuesday so I want to be home watching the action. Will head back out there Thursday.

the wife and I will head to the Fairfield lease in 2 vehicles, one towing the travel trailer and one towing the Kubota RTV. Hopefully get there by noonish, get camper set up, unload the RTV, head out to corn lanes with the road feeder, possibly set a stand until dark. Hunt Sat. morning & evening, then again Sunday morning before heading home (Deacon's meeting), then I will pull out early Monday morning heading to the Ozona place to do deer counts Monday afternoon thru Wednesday or possibly Thursday before heading home. Then back to Fairfield on Friday thru Sunday. we would normally have already had the FF place set up for MLDP opener but lease manager missed the deadline for filing paperwork

No plans for us! Retired last 5 yrs, driink coffee off the porch, watch the sunrise as another day passes. Probably wont hunt till it cools off here in central TX, im in no hurry, deer in back, front pasture every day. Hopefully it cools off week before Thanksgiving, then I will be in the mood to hunt! Being 90 to 94 deg lately doesnt work for me!

I’ll be late late rolling into camp this year and wouldn’t change it for anything. Taking my 5 year old on his first opening day. Go to wait until he gets out of school at 330, then head through DFW with no hurry, probably pull into lease around 9pm

The night before opening weekend in camp... is magic! I remember those days as a kid. I haven’t felt that magic in decades. Hunting different animals at different “ opening days” prolly has something to do with it.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Normally I get to camp Friday before gun opener in late afternoon. Camp is all set and I'll be there again this weekend archery hunting and then stay out until gun opener. This year it looks like I'll not leave metromess until late and roll in around mid-night, couple hours sleep and then off to hunt. I come home when ready could be Sunday after morning hunt, after sunday evening hunt or Monday after morning hunt. Just depends on temps,, deer activity and it's a long season and I do not want to burn out before those few magical peak rut days which I like to hunt all day

Leaving Friday and probably coming home on Tuesday to watch the election. It is going to be hot and i don't expect too much activity unless at first light or last light.

Kids are off Monday and Tuesday and both have soccer or softball over youth, so it’s a 4 day opening weekend
