I use a lithium setup on a solar charger for a year now, 24/7.

For $60-$70 you can buy a solar panel/lithium combo and never have to worry about batteries again.

I buy AA lithium batteries in bulk and 6 of them last me 1.5 years in browning cams. It’s about 8 bucks per camera for 1.5 years. These big external set ups are a solution looking for a problem.

That doesn't work for cell cams.

It doesn’t work for Browning non cell cams either unless you’re not getting any pictures. I’ve been running Browning Strike Force cameras for close to 20 years, and battery life is good but not that good. The only one I have that gets anywhere close to that length of time on a set of batteries is on a gate into my property for security, and it only gets a couple or three pictures a day max.

As far as external set ups, you just flat don’t know what you’re talking about. I’ve been running external batteries and solar panels on Spartan cell cams for about 3 years, and I figure it’s saving me over a $1000 a year with 6 cell cams.

I use AA regular batteries on my trail camera's with a solar panel. I get lots of photos both day and night. Going on two
years now and all the batteries show between 90 & 100% charged.

I use regular NiCad in my cellular cameras and a solar/lithium battery pack attached to the external power port.

Best of both worlds.

Solar panels now on all my Reconyx and Tactacam. Basically have eliminated my battery purchases. Am switching over to alkaline after the batteries have been in the camera's for almost two years just in case they think about leaking.... from the extreme heat in Texas during our summers.

You're saying you're switching to internal alkaline AAs instead of the lithiums? Alkaline batteries will leak... it's a foregone conclusion. I've never seen a lithium AA or AAA battery leak ever, and in general, they do not unless damaged in some way. In fact, I believe Energizer has a no-leak guarantee. I've seen my cameras at 140 degrees in full sun during the summers and still never seen any lithium battery damaged from that or start leaking.

If that's what you're saying, I'd rethink that strategy. YMMV.

Well General now you got me thinking. I think I'll run a test protocol since I have about half my camera's on lithium and half on alkaline already. I don't doubt what you say, I just don't like paying the exorbitant price for bunny batteries and since I have switched over to solar on all the camera's to cut down on battery replacement it just seemed logical to go with less expensive. Personally I like Duracell over Energizer AA, just my opinion..... no one has ever educated me that lithium doesn't leak before you so thank you !

Power my cell cameras with a feeder battery in an ammo can with a solar cell bolted to the top. Same concept as the link. I have extra batteries and solar cells for the feeders, so they're all the same.

Thanks for the tip, yes the lithium batteries last a very long time, even if you dont do a solar panel
on cams or feeders. Soon as my other 7ah battery dies, will switch over to the longer lasting lith batteries.

Thing is not all feed stores or sporting goods stores will carry these batteries, but amazon is good backup.
