Chief got tagged while shaking the snot out of a copperhead last night. He's on the mend now and swelling is down ,I think this is his 5th bite. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/10/full-65851-432918-1000004556.jpg)

Poor boy. That's a decent size copperhead. My Jack Russel likes to get after them too. He'a been bit three times.

our stock dog would get bit, he would go lay in the mud by the cement stock tank that was always muddy from the windmil, few days he would be up going, the only venomous snake we had were prairie rattlers, never seen any that were more than 3'
hold on Newt, we got a runaway

Hope he gets well soon.
Familiar sight to me though.
My Chocolate Lab (long since deceased) just could NOT pass up a Copperhead.
He was bitten three times and if a fourth Copperhead had come along, I'm sure it would have been 4 times.
Each time he would swell up, but within 48 hours would be just fine.
In one instance there was a very small spot of necrotic tissue at the site of the bite. But nothing to be alarmed about. I felt sorry for him each time of course, but he was going to engage and kill a Copperhead no matter what.
Spartans ask not...how many, but where!

Wife is an RN so we always force some Benadryl down their throat is there is swelling of the throat, snout or trouble breathing.Works quickly like a charm controlling the swelling.
