Hit a portage in pond with a forum member from the Lake Simcoe Board this morning for 4 hours. We landed about 20 largemouth in the 1 to 2 pound range and one hog. First time meet for the two of us. Hit it off pretty good. Weather was perfect and colors were pretty much at their peak: My Driveway: View from the dock back to my place:

Nothing wrong with culling out a few tasty 1-3 lb bass for the dinner table, that will leave a lot more bait fish to fatten up your Walleye

Look at that beautiful scenery.
What kind of critters do you have walking around those woods?
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

What kind of critters do you have walking around those woods? Many Many - too many to list but off the top of my head: Moose Bear Rare but there Elk Whitetail Rare but there cougar Lynx Timberwolf Wolf coyote hybrids Coyote Eastern Turkey Snowshoe Hare Cottontail Ruff Grouse Spruce Grouse Woodcock Mourning Dove Assortment of Ducks and geese Herons Occasional Sandhill Crane Bazillion different migratory and year round songbirds Bald Eagles Osprey Assortment of Hawks and Owls Standard vermin like skunks, coons, porcupines, squirrels and chipmunks American bullfrogs - very cool to listen to. Fishers Pine Martens Beavers Otters Probably missing some but that mostly covers what i have personally observed in the last 8 years on my 120 acres which connects to 10s of thousands of acres of roadless public wilderness on two sides of my property. Other side is 3000 feet of lake front and other side is private.

Typically they are about 80 lbs. Largest I personally have ever seen was 119 lbs shot by a friend about 10 years ago. There are reports of larger but I am skeptical unless you show a pic of the animal on a certified scale. Wolf and bear size tend to be overestimated partly due to the nature of their long thick fur and partly because it makes a better story.

Awesome place you have up there!
