Headed out this weekend for a few sits and I have a pretty good idea of what’s around and what may show up. Wanted to hear your thoughts on these two regular. Both are good bucks for sure but I thought of letting both walk another year and staying patient to see what else shows up through out the season.

I know this sounds like a good plan but I may think differently if I see them in person.

The wide 8 seems like he’s just that, an 8. The 10 looks like he has more potential and could be something next year.

I think they're both mature.

What kind of a year have you had rainfall-wise? If it's been a really good year (as we had in the western hill country) I think it would be a fine time to ground check either one of them. If next year isn't as good, they may not be better than they are now, and they're only going to breed 1-2 does per year from here on out.

We’ve had good rainfall for the area this year and who knows for next. I’m west towards Ozona.

10pt is mature - if you like him now take him now, if you're fine waiting, wait.
8pt is looks younger to me and I've had plenty of 3yr old 8pts grow into 10s and better.

Sounds like you want to give them both a pass and that should work out fine, they definitely don't get bigger once they are on the wall
